RESUMEN

Use of antibiotics can't completely solve the problem of brucellosis treatment, especially its chronic forms, because antibacterial preparations do not eliminate main pathogenetic factor of the disease--sensibilization of the macroorganism. It makes actual the question about complex immuno- and antibacterial therapy. Long-term clinical experience proved high effectiveness of a therapeutic brucellosis vaccine. Earlier this preparation was manufactured in Research Institute of Vaccines and Sera in Tbilisi (Georgia). To date new composition of components of the vaccine has been developed, and manufacturing and control methods have been improved. Marked desensitizing effect of the vaccine and its stimulatory action on cellular and humoral immunity has been observed. In 2002 technological normative documentation for manufacturing and use of the vaccine was developed in the Research Institute of Microbiology (Kirov) and production of the vaccine began.

RESUMEN

The injection of highly immunogenic vaccine strain Yersinia pestis EV, line NIIEG, into guinea pigs was accompanied, as early as 24 hours after this injection, by a drop in the electrophoretic mobility of the main amount of lymphocytes, significant shifts in the content and quantitative relation of adenine nucleotides in the mixed lymphocyte population, as well as T and B lymphocytes after their preparative electrophoretic sorting. The immunizatiom of guinea pigs with strain EV of the Japanese line, possessing faint immunogenic properties, produced few changes in the electrophoretic mobility of lymphocytes; no significant changes in the energy charge of the adenylate system of lymphocytes and their subpopulations in comparison with intact animals were established. The study of the metabolic processes in lymphocytes and their populations makes it possible to give more precise characterization to evaluate the prospects of various vaccine preparations.

RESUMEN

The comparative evaluation of the diagnostic value of new cholera eltor bacteriophages ctx+ and ctx-, as well as monophages X[symbol: see text]-3, 4, 5, demonstrated their high activity and specificity. Using of these bacteriophages epidemic potential of 95% Vibrio cholerae eltor strains ctx+ and 84.5% of V. cholerae eltor stains ctx- was determined. Commercial monophages X[symbol: see text]-3, 4, 5 were inferior to bacteriophages ctx+ and ctx- in their diagnostic value: only 55% of strains having gene ctxAB were found to be epidemically dangerous, i.e. 45% of strains capable of causing the disease were not detected. On the basis of the results obtained in this investigation cholera eltor bacteriophages ctx+ and ctx- were recommended for introduction into practical use, while further production of cholera diagnostic monophages X[symbol: see text]-3, 4, 5 was recommended to be stopped.

RESUMEN

A new nutrient medium for isolation and cultivation of the causative agents of enteric yersiniosis and pseudotuberculosis was found to have advantages over Endo medium in its differentiating and inhibiting properties. This medium permitted the easy differentiation of Yersinia pseudotuberculosis from Y. enterocolitica, as well as from Escherichia coli, Shigella flexneri, Klebsiella pneumoniae, K. rhinoscleromatis, Hafnia, Enterobacter and Citrobacter by color; from Proteus inconstans by swarming. In addition, weakly swarming of P. vulgaris differed by their light bluish color and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, by the brilliance and size of colonies. Endo medium could be used only for differentiation of E. coli from lactose-negative Yersinia colonies, Klebsiella (by mucous growth) and, to a certain extent, all Proteus species (by swarming). The medium under test and the control medium inhibited the growth of Staphylococcus aureus. In contrast to Endo medium, the medium under test partially inhibited the growth of K. rhinoscleromatis and the swarming of P. inconstans. The new medium is now introduced into practice.
