RESUMEN

Ultrasonic dopplerography of prostatic, scrotal and penile vessels before and after intake of levitra in a dose 10 mg was made in 22 patients with chronic abacterial prostatitis in combination with erectile dysfunction and after their combined levitra treatment for a month taken each other day. It was found that levitra accelerates arterial inflow to the prostatic gland, testicles and penis (even in the absence of sexual stimulation and erection). This evidence indicates a distinct vasculogenic effect of levitra on male genitalia. Thus, levitra is a promising drug in the treatment of chronic prostatitis, excretory infertility. It is recommended to take levitra regularly 2-3 times a week to manage vascular genital disorders.

RESUMEN

Results of the 2-year open postregistration study of Copaxone (glatiramer acetate), conducted in 3 Moscow leading medical centres are given. 32 MS patients with remitting-relapsing MS were investigated in accordance with international requirements (neurological scales, MRI of the brain, multimodal evoked potential). Significant reduction of annual relapse rate for 70.3%, stabilization of neurological status and benign safety profile were demonstrated during Copaxone treatment. Practical recommendations for Copaxone use are given.

RESUMEN

The authors describe a rare and little studied form (distal) of spinal amyotrophy. 12 patients were placed under observation. A group of patients with symmetric distal pareses of the hands and legs has been distinguished. Patients with long existent distal monoparesis of the hand or leg are described. The role of EMG in the differential diagnosis is emphasized.

RESUMEN

Using spectral analysis data of the previous study a trial was undertaken to develop criteria for diagnosis and risk assessment of epilepsy. To the spectral parameters++, differentiating groups of epilepsy and normals, the diagnostic weights from 1 to 10 were attributed, according to the probability "p" from 0.01 to 0.001 using "t" criterion. Sums of the weights formed "epilepsy indexes" (EL) for each normal and patient. From these EI confidence intervals for p less than 0.034 and less than 0.003 were obtained. The criteria were checked on a mixed group of patients differing by the degree of epileptic charge. Positive EI were found only in the patients with high risk of epilepsy (febrile convulsions and epileptic siblings) and in patients with actual epileptic seizures, corresponding in the latter mostly to p less than 0.003.

RESUMEN

Spectral EEG analysis (fast Fourier transform) was performed in 48 patients with epilepsy, 4 patients after one epileptic seizure, 12 sibs of epileptic patients, 18 children with febrile convulsions, 18 patients with vasoautonomic dystonia, and 23 normal children. Means, standard deviations, standard errors of the means were calculated for the spectra. A distinct EEG type was found characteristic of the epileptic patients: power increase by the factor of 5 to 10 as compared to normals, predominantly in theta band. This EEG type was shared by epileptic patients and their sibs. Both had peculiar patterns on hyperventilation.

RESUMEN

The technique and methodology of diagnosis of brachicephalic arterial lesions by means of ultrasonic dopplerography before and after roentgeno-endovascular dilatation are described. Angiographic and ultrasonic studies were conducted in 21 patients who were eventually subjected to roentgeno-endovascular dilatation (RED) of stenosed and occluded segments of aortic arch branches (atherosclerosis in 19 cases, and nonspecific aorto-arteritis in 2). The stenosis was located in the brachiocephalic trunk in 1 case, in the right internal carotid artery in another one and in the subclavian arteries in the rest: stenosis of the right subclavian artery in 4 patients and first-portion left-subclavian artery in 11, and occlusion of first-segment left subclavian artery in 4. The diagnostic capacity of ultrasonic dopplerography was 94% in detecting brachiocephalic arterial stenosis of 50% and more, while angiographic investigation was more reliable in detecting subclavian occlusions (4 cases). A few clinical examples of the diagnoses of lesions in aortic arch branches and treatment thereof by transcutaneous roentgeno-endovascular dilatation are quoted.

RESUMEN

Clinical investigation and rheoencephalography were performed in 79 patients and their cerebral circulation patterns characterized. Patients with different forms of endogenous depression displayed different levels of cerebral arterial blood filling and volume blood flow. Cerebral venous dysfunctions in depressive patients showed a clear tendency to relieve as the patients' clinical condition improved during drug therapy. The degree of cerebral venous outflow improvement could serve as an additional factor in predicting the steadiness of the clinical remission and evaluating the effect of therapy.

RESUMEN

Examination of 37 patients with Marfan's syndrome has revealed acute disorders of the cerebral circulation, aneurysms of the spinal vessels, varicose spinal veins, myopathy-like syndrome, atlantal semiluxation, spondylolisthesis, epilepsy and cephalgia. The data of additional examinations conducted in patients with Marfan's syndrome with and without neurological symptomatology are presented. The questions concerning the prevention, pathogenesis and therapy of neurological disturbances associated with Marfan's syndrome are considered.

RESUMEN

A method for rheogram analysis has been developed which enables one to separate the two components of a rheogram, i. e. the arterial and the venous ones. These two components reflect, respectively, the pulse fluctuations of the blood content of the arterial and the venous systems. Their separation is based on substantial differences between these fluctuations during a cardiac cycle. The method is used for synchronous recording of rheograms and their first derivatives, i. e. the differential rheograms. Data obtained with the use of the method make it possible to estimate the level of the blood content of the arterial network, the peripheral vascular resistance, and the conditions of the blood backflow from the venous network in a body region being examined.

RESUMEN

The authors suggest a method of highly sensitive electrothermometry tested on 56 patients with extra- and intracerebral tumours of the brain matter of supratentorial localization. This method makes it possible to determine the localization, boundaries, dimensions and character of the tumour during the operation, which is essential for its subsequent removal with the least possible injury to surrounding tissues.

RESUMEN

The paper pertains to a comparative study of the nervous system, cerebral and peripheral circulation in 83 patients with different clinical variants of myocardial infarctions during the first decade of the disease. There were no direct correlations between a decrease in the absolute figures of cerebral pulse repletion and the development of a cerebral stroke. However, the study demonstrated a distinct correlation between the development of cerebral stroke in patients with myocardial infarctions during the first decade and insufficiency of the compensatory intensity of blood repletion both in the cerebral and peripheral vascular basins.

RESUMEN

In connection with an elaboration of a new method of analysing biosignals of pulse repletion, which used a systemic approach to the description of the cardiovascular system and a creation of a corresponding model of its work, the authors made a theoretical study of systematization of the manifold forms of rheograms in different conditions of the vascular tone. An analysis of the rheogram structures on the basis of the model of the cardiovascular system and a consideration of the rheograms as a summation of two components -- the arterial and venous -- permitted to eliminate some new indices of the tone state, elasticity and blood repletion of the arterial and venous bed, as well as the amount of peripheral vascular resistance.
