RESUMEN

Complicated high myopia is one of the leading causes responsible for the disablement in the children associated with visual impairment especially when it is combined with other pathological conditions and abnormalities among which are disorders of the musculoskeletal system. In the present study, we for the first time examined visually impaired schoolchildren (n=44) who suffered from high myopia complications making use of the computed optical topographer for the evaluation of the state of their vertebral column. The control group consisted of 60 children attending a secondary school. The study revealed various deformations of the musculoskeletal system including scoliosis, misalignment of the pelvis, kyphosis, hyperlordosis, torsion, platypodia, deformation of the lower extremities and the chest. These deformations were more pronounced in the visually impaired schoolchildren in comparison with the children of the same age comprising the control group (p<0,05). It is concluded that the assessment of the state of the vertebral column with the use of the apparatus yields an important information for the elaboration and application of a series of measures for the timely provision of medical assistance needed for the comprehensive rehabilitation of the visually impaired schoolchildren presenting with high myopia complications.

RESUMEN

The present review is focused on the randomized controlled trials and meta-analyses in the field of technological means for neurorehabilitation. The available literature data and the results of original observations provide a basis for distinguishing between the following levels of evidence: instrumental verticalization--2a, robot-assisted mechanotherapy--1a, biological feedback--1a, virtual reality--1a, transcranial magnetic stimulation--1a for central hemiparesis and 1b for speech disturbance and unilateral spatial agnosia, transcranial electrical stimulation--2b, electromyostimulation--1a, telerehabilitation--3. It is concluded that the use of the innovative technologies for the purpose of neurorehabiltation is objectively substantiated. Further investigations are needed to allow their application on an individual basis.

RESUMEN

As was proven by clinical studies, the results of the flexion test, a specific technique applied in manual therapy, can be used for differential diagnostics of pathological changes in the cervical spine of dysplastic and "mechanical" origin. This fact is taken into consideration in the elaboration of the prevention and rehabilitation programs. The present report is based on the results of the rehabilitative treatment of the children and young athletes presenting with pathological changes in the cervical spine.

RESUMEN

The Federal Medical and Rehabilitation Center of the Russian Health Ministry Health is a unique therapeutic and prophylactic setting. Its unique character is attributable to the fact that it incorporates specialized clinical departments that provide high-tech medical care and the Center for Restorative Medicine and Rehabilitation. Collaboration of these units permits to initiate rehabilitative measures from the very first day of the patient's stay in the hospital with due regard for the nosological form of his (her) disease. The activities of the Center for Restorative Medicine and Rehabilitation are based on the application of up-to-date remediation technologies that ensure the long-term rehabilitative effect and allow the duration of hospital stay to be decreased. During many years of practical work, the Centre has developed the proper organizational structure and gained a vast experience of comprehensive early rehabilitation after the most common diseases that was summarized by its specialists in numerous publications and theses and was many times reported at various scientific forums in this country and abroad.

RESUMEN

The number of days from the spinal cord injury to rehabilitation of the victim has significantly decreased. It means that the rehabilitative treatment begins when the risk of secondary trophic lesions, cardiovascular and respiratory complications is especially high. Training with the use of a tilt-table equipped with the dynamic foot support is considered to be the highly effective method for the prevention or reduction of orthostatic hypotension, impaired ventilation, and pressure sores. This approach makes it possible to influence the patient's motivation for further recovery, decrease the duration of hospitalization in the intensive therapy ward, accelerate adaptation of the patients to the vertical posture, decrease hypotension and hypoxia, reduce to a minimum the occurrence of secondary neurologic disorders. Dynamic tilt-table training is considered to be a more effective modality for the adaptation of the patient to the vertical position than standing with the assistance of a simple table.

RESUMEN

This paper presents a brief description of the development of physical therapy as a basic technology for medical rehabilitation and the current state of research activities in this field at the Federal Therapeutic and Rehabilitative Centre. The importance of targeted re-equipment of health centres, departments of medical rehabilitation and remedial medicine is emphasized for the wider application of novel health-promoting technologies and optimization of control over health improvement procedures through increasing and mobilizing the functional reserves of the human body.

RESUMEN

In infancy formation of the epicardial lymphatic network is not completed, its spatial organization is polymorphic and depends on localization in the heart. Already in newborns at the apex cordis small areas of regularly formed double-layered lymphatic network are noted. In all other parts the network is monolayered. Near the apex cordis its loops are finer, there are more closed loops. In the middle and superior third of the ventricles the lymphatic network density is less, a great number of open loops and lateral blind protrusions are recorded. Presence of the areas with double-layered network in the apex cordis is connected with a thicker myocardium in this part, and certain increase of its area during infancy demonstrates that there is a tendency of gradual formation of the epicardial lymphatic network from the apex towards the base of the organ.

RESUMEN

The isotope 131I-hippuran was introduced via a microirrigator into the pericardial cavity of 26 puppies aged 1--3 months to study resorption function of the epicardium. Pericarditis was induced by administering the culture of Staph. aureus into the cavity. It was disclosed that in health the isotope half-life falls within the 12th minute, while complete elimination within the 45th--50th minute. On the 5th--6th day of experimental pericarditis, the resorption becomes 6 times slower, on the 14th day it returns to normal and on the 28th day exceeds normal 3--4 times. This fact is a consequence of a powerful development of the subepicardial venous network.
