RESUMEN

Among 104 patients with aortic stenosis 15 had subvalvular stenosis. In 4 cases the subvalvular stenosis was caused by fibromuscular constriction of the left-ventricular outlet, in the other cases it was formed by a connective-tissue membrane. A rather frequent combination of the subaortic stenosis with other heart anomalies is pointed out. Two patients died after the operation from progressive cardiac failure.

RESUMEN

The authors analyze the results of treatment of 1500 patients suffering from varicose conditions. They have developed original methods for the treatment of varicose dilatation of subcutaneous veins: endovascular and ++perivascular electrocoagulation of subcutaneous veins, removal and crossing of subcutaneous and communicant ++ veins with vein extractor and capron fish line; liquidation of venous conglomerates by means of a submerged removable suture; ++supra-fascial crossing of subcutaneous veins. Employment of these methods in combination with the traditional treatment modalities yields a good therapeutic and cosmetic effect. The methods are simple and available, this recommending them for any surgical hospital.

RESUMEN

In the period between 1967 and 1985 the authors operated on 5 patients with chemodectoma; their ages ranged from 29 to 39. The duration of the disease ranged from 2 to 4 years. The tumor was on the right side in 3 and on the left side in 2 patients. Carotid angiography, which was conducted in all cases, revealed a richly vascularized tumor in the region of the carotid artery bifurcation with characteristic "angulation" and "cuff" signs. Damage to the carotid arteries was avoided during the operation in 3 patients and the chemodectoma was removed subadventitionally. In 2 patients the arteries were injured. There were neither neurological complications nor fatal outcomes.

RESUMEN

The authors analyzed the potentialities of combined radiodiagnosis of supravalvular stenosis (SS) and concomitant diseases of the heart and major vessels (Williams-Beuren syndrome) in 7 patients aged 7 mos. to 24 yrs. Polypositional chest and heart x-ray procedure, catheterization of the cardiac cavities, pulmonary artery and aorta, left ventriculography (6), right ventriculography (4) and angiopulmonography were used. The diagnostic potentialities of each method were defined. It was proved that SS practically in all patients was accompanied by major vascular changes in the pulmonary, vertebral, coronary, carotid, subclavicular, renal and other arteries, heart failure (atrial septal defect, and mitral incompetence).

RESUMEN

The study included 10 patients with anomalous development of the aortic arch, of whom 5 had a double aortic arch, 5 had anomalous branching of the right subclavian artery with the formation of a vascular ring. 5 patients were operated with good long-term results during a 15-year follow-up period.
