RESUMEN
This descriptive-correlational and cross-sectional study aimed to evaluate the quality of working life (QWL) and the presence of burnout among nursing professionals working at Intensive Care Units. The sample was composed of 53 nursing professionals from a university hospital located in the city of Londrina-PR, Brazil. Three instruments were used for data collection: socio-demographic and professional characterization, Visual Analogue Scale for QWL and Maslach Burnout Inventory. Data was collected from April to August, 2009. Among the participants, most were auxiliary nurses (52.8%), women (66.0%) and married (67.9%). The average age was of 42.4 years. Regarding assessment of QWL, the average score obtained for the total sample was 71.1 (SD=15.5), showing that workers were satisfied with their QWL. The average for Emotional Exhaustion, Depersonalization and Personal Accomplishment dimensions was 11.4 (SD=7.7), 4.6 (SD=4.1) and 25.0 (SD=5.9), respectively. The QWL for the total sample showed significant association only with Emotional Exhaustion (p=0.000).

Estudo descritivo, correlacional, de corte transversal, cujos objetivos foram avaliar a Qualidade de Vida no Trabalho (QVT) e a presença da Síndrome de Burnout entre profissionais de enfermagem de Unidade de Terapia Intensiva. Compuseram a amostra 53 trabalhadores de enfermagem de um hospital escola do interior do Paraná, Brasil. Utilizou-se para a coleta de dados: instrumento de caracterização sócio-demográfica e profissional, Escala Visual Analógica para QVT e o Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI). A coleta de dados ocorreu entre abril e agosto de 2009. Predominaram auxiliares de enfermagem (52,8%), do sexo feminino (66,0%), casados (67,9%), com idade média de 42,4 anos. A média de QVT para o total da amostra foi de 71,1 (D.P.=15,5), demonstrando uma avaliação satisfatória para essa medida. As dimensões Exaustão Emocional, Despersonalização e Realização Profissional obtiveram média de 11,4 (DP=7,7), 4,6 (DP=4,1) e 25,0 (DP=5,9), respectivamente, enquanto a medida de QVT somente obteve associação estatisticamente significante com a dimensão Exaustão Emocional (p=0,000).

Se trata de un estudio de correlación, descriptivo y transversal cuyo objetivo fue evaluar la calidad de vida en el trabajo (CVT) y la incidencia de burnout entre trabajadores de enfermería que actúan en Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos. La muestra fue constituida por 53 profesionales de enfermería de un hospital escuela de la ciudad de Londrina-PR, Brasil. La recolecta de datos fue realizada en el período de abril a agosto de 2009 por medio de tres cuestionarios: datos generales y profesionales, Escala Visual Analógica para CVT y lo Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI). Predominaran en la muestra auxiliares de enfermería (52,8%), del sexo femenino (66,0%), casadas (67,9%), con edad promedia de 42,4 años. En lo que concierne a la evaluación de la CVT, se obtuve promedia de 71,1 (DE=15,5), demostrando una buena evaluación para esa medida. Las dimensiones del MBI (AE, DP, RP) obtuvo valores promedios de 11,4 (DE=7,7), 4,6 (DE=4,1) y 25,0 (DE=5,9), respectivamente. La asociación cuyo resultado fue estadísticamente significante ocurrió entre CVT y Agotamiento Emociónale (p=0,000).
