RESUMEN
Introducción: el conocimiento del idioma inglés a través de la especialidad de Dermatología mejora la preparación y actualización del personal médico. Objetivo: evaluar el conocimiento del idioma inglés a través de la especialidad de Dermatología en pre y postgrado de Medicina. Métodos: se realizó un estudio descriptivo retrospectivo en el municipio de Jaruco, provincia Mayabeque, durante el año 2009. El universo lo constituyó el total de alumnos de pre y postgrado del policlínico Noelio Capote del período en estudio, la muestra fueron los 44 encuestados de pre y postgrado seleccionados al azar. Las variables utilizadas fueron: año académico, evaluación final, dificultades encontradas, uso de la voz pasiva y omisión de contenido. Se utilizó para traducir un texto científico en idioma inglés sobre el acné juvenil extraído de Infomed. Se emplearon métodos empírico, teóricos y estadísticos en la investigación.Resultados: resultó la mayor cantidad de aprobados en 33 alumnos, para un 75,0 por ciento, y la dificultad más encontrada fue la omisión de contenido, en 31 alumnos, lo que representó un 39,74 por ciento de total de la muestra. Conclusiones: las dificultades demostradas en el idioma inglés a través de la especialidad de Dermatología en el personal de salud requieren, para los profesores, un cambio en la forma de trabajo con sus alumnos, además de la necesidad urgente de una bibliografía básica dotada de una base lingüística y técnica acorde con la formación de pre y postgrado en el campo de la salud (AU)
Introduction: the knowledge of the English language through the specialty of Dermatology improves the preparation and updating of the medical staff.Objective: to assess the knowledge of the English language through the specialty of dermatology at pre-degree and post-degree medicine.Methods: it was conducted a descriptive, retrospective study in the municipality of Jaruco, Mayabeque province, in 2009. The universe was constituted by the total of pre-degree and post-degree students of Noelio Capote polyclinic in the period under study, the sample were the 44 pre-degree and post-degree respondents randomly selected. The variables used were: academic year, final evaluation, found difficulties, use of the passive voice and omissions in content. It was used as translation a scientific text in English extracted from INFOMED on juvenile acne. Empirical, theoretical and statistical methods were used in the research.Results: the highest quantity of approved students was 33, to 75,0 por ciento, and the most found difficulty was the omission of content by 31 students, which accounted for 39,74 por ciento of the total sample.Conclusions: the demonstrated difficulties in the English language through the specialty of Dermatology in health personnel require a change in the way teachers work with their students, as well as the urgent need for a basic bibliography provided with a linguistic and technical basis according to the pre-degree and post-degree training in the field of health (AU)
