RESUMEN
Computer-aided tomography of the carpal canal was performed in 30 patients syndromes of the carpal canal and in 20 healthy persons. Topographoanatomic interrelations of carpal canal structures were specified, degenerative and dystrophic alterations of the carpal bones, proliferation of the connective tissue, displacement of carpal structures and of the median nerve itself were revealed.

A total of 375 patients with neurologic syndromes of herpes zoster were studied. Ten of them presented, along with the involvement of the first branch of the trigeminal nerve and other cranial nerves, contralateral pyramidal symptomatology. Apart from the typical syndrome of herpes zoster ophthalmicus with contralateral hemiplegia the authors distinguished clinical variants in which contralateral pyramidal symptomatology was associated with acute meningoencephalitis.

Neurological manifestations of diphtheria have been studied in 32 adults. The main syndromes of peripheral nervous system damage of diphtheria etiology are presented. The pathogenic mechanisms of the development of neurological complications and the efficacy of multiple-modality restorative therapy were considered.

Fifty-two cases of Guillain-Seze-de Blondin-Walter syndrome are analyzed. The causes of selective sensitivity of peroneal nerves to the impact of various damaging factors are discussed. It is emphasized that along with factors of compression and ischemia, a considerable role is played by topographo-anatomical and histological characteristics of peroneal nerves and by the peculiarities of their evolutional-phylogenetic development.
