RESUMEN

INTRODUCTION: Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory disorder that affects the pilosebaceous unit. Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC) can emerge as a complication. PRESENTATION OF CASE: A 58-year-old male patient with a history of smoking, obesity, and type 2 diabetes was initially managed by a dermatology team for Follicular Occlusion Syndrome manifesting as HS. Despite clinical treatment, the patient was referred to the Coloproctology Unit because of the development of a lesion in the perianal region near the HS lesions. Physical examination revealed an ulcerated, vegetative, painful, and friable lesion in the right perianal region consistent with SCC of the HS scar. The patient underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapy, but the lesions recurred, necessitating abdominoperineal amputation of the rectum. DISCUSSION: Although rare, patients with chronic HS are at an increased risk of developing SCC, particularly in the perineal and gluteal regions. The standard treatment protocol for SCC in HS involves chemoradiotherapy with the aim of preserving the anal sphincter and avoiding surgery. Surgical intervention is reserved for patients that are unresponsive to chemoradiotherapy or for advanced cases in which local resection is insufficient. CONCLUSION: This disease course aligns with the epidemiology of HS, which predominantly affects male individuals with chronic lesions in the perianal, gluteal, and perineal regions. Such lesions can progress severely, often resisting non-invasive treatments and requiring more aggressive surgical interventions.

AMOSTRA: 340 estudantes do sexo feminino do ensino médio, selecionadas randomicamente. .

OBJECTIVE: To determine the prevalence of dissatisfaction with body image - IIC and its relation to the level of habitual physical activity - NAF adolescents in urban schools to Irati-PR; SAMPLE: 340 female students of high school, selected randomly. INSTRUMENTS: Habitual Physical Activity Questionnaire (NAHAS, 2006) and Perception Scale Body Silhouette of Childress et al. (1993). RESULTS: 70.9% of adolescents had IIC and 72.6% are insufficiently active, however, no relationship between IIC and NAF. Overweight and underweight had 3.47 and 2.64 times more likely, respectively, to report IIC compared eutrophic. The desire to decrease body silhouette was 63.96% and 31.94% among normal weight and underweight among respectively. CONCLUSION: The prevalence of IIC is high and independent of NAF, which increases the risk of body dysmorphic disorder. .

The castor bean crop in large areas has become possible with the recent introduction of short stature hybrids that allow the complete mecanization of agricultural practices, including the harvest. However, when hibrids are used, the information about agricultural practices to be employed, are still very poor, especially, with regard to management nitrogen fertilization. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of nitrogen sources and doses in castor bean hybrids under no-till system in summer crop. The experiment was conducted for two crop years (2005/2006 and 2006/2007). The experiment design was a randomized blocks in 2x4 factorial design with four replications. The treatments comprised the combination of two nitrogen sources (ammonium sulfate and urea), with four doses of nitrogen (0, 30, 60 and 120kg ha-1 of N) surface applied 20 days after emergence, plus a control. The hybrid Savana was utilized. The nitrogen fertilization increased productivity of the castor bean under no-till system. The grain yield wasn't influenced by the nitrogen source utilized. The average rate calculated that allowed the maximum grain yield was 88kg ha-1 in the 2005/2006 crops and 100kg ha-1 in the 2006/2007 crops.

RESUMEN

Objectives: Surgical removal of third molars is a regular surgical procedure, which like all operations, may havecomplications. The purpose of the study was to analyze the incidence of complications and their relationship withthe surgical difficulty in a group of 588 patients treated by the same oral and maxillofacial surgeon. Study design:This retrospective cohort study consisted of 1699 third molars (M3) removed between 2005 and 2008. The teethwere grouped into a 6-class scale of surgical difficulty rated according to the surgical procedure description inthe patient’s file: I: upper M3 requiring forceps only; II: upper M3 requiring osteotomy; III: upper M3 requiringosteotomy and tooth section; IV: lower M3 requiring forceps only; V: lower M3 requiring osteotomy; VI: lowerM3 requiring osteotomy and tooth section. The complications were grouped into each surgical difficulty class andtheir incidence and management were also described. Results: 59 complications (3.47%), including pain, root tipfracture, paresthesia, alveolar osteitis, temporomandibular joint discomfort, and oroantral fistula were reported.Surgical difficulty class VI presented the higher incidence of complications (n=38). Conclusions: The risk of complicationsin third molar surgery will always exist and increases in proportion to the surgical difficulty. MandibularM3 requiring osteotomy and tooth section have the highest risk of complications (AU)
