RESUMEN

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to have a significant impact on society, both physically and mentally. Mask use in public places has been made mandatory in many countries, as it is one of the most effective methods to prevent transmission of the virus. However, continuous mask usage has been associated with the emergence of various cutaneous diseases in the areas of contact with the mask. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of various cutaneous manifestations resulting from mask use on patients' quality of life through a questionnaire survey. This was a cross-sectional study conducted at a hospital from May to July 2022. Patients who had experienced skin symptoms related to mask use in the past or present were included in the study. Participants completed the questionnaire with informed consent. A total of 165 participants participated in the survey, with the most common complaint being itching (58.18%), followed by acne (52.73%). Itching was found to have the highest dermatology life quality index score. Patients with skin redness had a lower quality of life compared to those without it. Prolonged mask-wearing can result in skin diseases that can seriously impair patients' quality of life.

RESUMEN

In this study, two types of agricultural wastes, sugarcane bagasse (SB) and cassava root husks (CRHs), were used to fabricate biochars. The pristine biochars derived from SB and CRHs (SBB and CRHB, respectively) were modified using ZnO nanoparticles to generate modified biochars (SBB-ZnO and CRHB-ZnO, respectively) for the removal of Reactive Red 24 (RR24) from stimulated wastewater. Batch experiments were performed to evaluate the effects of ZnO nanoparticles' loading ratio, solution pH, contact time, and initial RR24 concentration on the RR24 adsorption capacity of biochars. The RR24 adsorption isotherm and kinetic data on SBB, SBB-ZnO3, CRHB, and CRHB-ZnO3 were analyzed. Results indicate that SB- and CRH-derived biochars with a ZnO nanoparticle loading ratio of 3 wt% could generate maximum adsorption capacities of RR24 thanks to the double growth on the BET surface of modified biochars. The RR24 adsorption capacities of CRHB-ZnO3 and SBB-ZnO3 reached 81.04 and 105.24 mg g-1, respectively, which were much higher than those of pristine CRHB and SBB (66.19 and 76.14, respectively) at an initial RR24 concentration of 250 mg L-1, pH 3, and contact time of 60 min. The adsorption of RR24 onto biochars agreed well with the pseudo-first-order model and the Langmuir isotherm. The RR24 adsorption capacity on modified biochars, which were reused after five adsorption-desorption cycles showed no insignificant drop. The main adsorption mechanisms of RR24 onto biochars were controlled by electrostatic interactions between biochars' surface positively charged functional groups with azo dye anions, pore filling, hydrogen bonding formation, and π-π interaction.

RESUMEN

89 male workers of vapor iron were subjected to the study. The investigation of labor evironment and worker conditions showed that: indoor temperature exceeds that of hygiene standard by 0,2-1,0oC, humidity and wind velocity is tense (2080 movement for each shift) working movement duration is short (12 second for each movement), in the shift, breaking time is insufficient to meet the need of rest. After a working day, memory, the attention, the tonus of muscle decrease dramatically in comparing with those before the shift the decrease is significant statistically. Many sites of pain occur considerably and concentrate in the nape, right arm, back, thigh and knee

RESUMEN

Working environment and worker’s health status of 2432 subjects of the factories of thread, of wearing, dying, the factory of perfectioning and garment belonging 8/3 textile company. Results showed that in most of studies places, the permissible criteria were reached, excluding some harmful factors such as temperature, wind speed, light, noise, dust concentration, nocious gas. In more than 50% of total number of workers were of 1st and 2nd grade of health, and it’s better in the male than in female subjects. The diseases of high incidence are respiratory diseases, gynecological diseases and nervous diseases and their different rates depend on the working characteristics, increasing progressively with working age

RESUMEN

The working environment of 138 workers at Binh Dinh construction factory was studied concerning the harmful factors determined by the Institute of Occupational Medicine and Working environment. Almost harmful factors are highest then allowed standard, especially total dust (>3,7 times), high SiO2 content level 24-42%. In almost studied field, the noise density is higher than standard (90 dBA). There is a high incidence of some diseases such as stomato-dental diseases (50,27%), ENT and respiratory diseases (37,14%). Occupational safety and health care for workers were neziligible; commonly available masks for respiration are not proper for filtering the dust

RESUMEN

Studying on clinical symptoms and respiratory function of 83 workers above 5 years professional age (86% male and 14% female) showed that there are predominantly 2 functional symptoms: chest pain and dipnoea, then sputum, cough and hemoptisis, two physical symptoms of deformity of the chest, vesicular murmur, were of higher rate. The incidence of respiratory total dysfunction accounts for 38.6% in workers. The incidence of silico-pneumoconiosis is 9.6%, mild form is common in most of workers
