RESUMEN

The paper presents an analysis of autonomic regulation and spectral EEG structure in 70 epileptic patients with affective disorders in period between the fits. It was found that activity of the sympathetic link was elevated, activity of the parasympathetic link was decreased in such patients especially in cases with partial visceral-autonomic fits. EEG mapping revealed elevation of the spectral power of density (SPD) of alpha-diapason with a simultaneous decrease of 8-9 Hz frequency as well as different location of alpha-rhythm's focus in the patients as compared with healthy individuals. The most frequent prevalence of delta-activity was found in the temporal lobes. In patients with partial visceral-autonomic, psychomotor and psychosensory fits the foci of epileptic activity have been registered in the right hemisphere 3-4 times more frequently than in the left one. After the course of therapy normalization of the indices of autonomic regulation was not observed, individual EEG peculiarities remained, but there was an increase of alpha-rhythm's SPD and a decrease of SPD of delta-range.

RESUMEN

Testing the injectable dosage form of phenazepam showed no substantial pharmacokinetic differences in epileptic patients receiving a single intravenous and intramuscular doses of 2 mg. The bioavailability of the drug was 0.82. The individual and mean experimental stationary phenazepam concentration (157.3 ng/ml) in the patients' blood during course intramuscular therapy was found to be close to the theoretical stationary one (150.6 ng/ml). The pharmacokinetic findings allow one to optimize phenazepam therapy for epileptic patients.

RESUMEN

Verified material on 246 cases of acute viral encephalitis and meningoencephalitis was studied prospectively. The clinical and psychopathological analysis shown predilection to cerebral affection in formation of a number of psychopathological syndromes reflecting focal insufficiency and related to etiotopic characteristics of the underlying pathological process.

RESUMEN

Eight patients with herpetic encephalitis (HE) and one patient with herpetic meningitis were investigated. The clinical and laboratory investigations (CR, EEG, and others) are described. In all the cases the diagnosis was corroborated with serological and virological tests unraveling the herpes simplex virus. A high-sensitive diagnose the atypical HE cases with subacute and chronic course that is important for correct treatment.

RESUMEN

The article presents the results of a combined (clinicopsychopathological, neurological, computed tomography) investigation of 28 patients with encephalitides caused by the virus of herpes simplex type 1 at various periods of the disease. The peculiarities of psychopath-like signs at the initial stage of the disease are shown in their relation with wekefullness level fluctuations and epileptic reactions. Diagnostic and prognostic values of distinct psychopathologic signs are evaluated. Major variants of psychoorganic signs in reconvalescence and later periods are described. Besides the impact of the factor of severity of neurological disorders in the disease, the role of a local factor in shaping the clinical picture of deficit-related psychopathological disorders is stressed: preferential lesioning of frontotemporal cortex and the limbic system structures.

RESUMEN

A total of 164 patients with schizophrenia and exogenic-organic psychoses resistant to psychotropic therapy were subjected to clinico-immunological examination. The inclusion into the multiple-modality therapy of the immunomodulator levamisole, besides the general improvement, had a positive effect on the psychopathologic symptomatology and helped to reduce a number of productive syndromes, deficit abnormalities and attendant extrapyramidal manifestations. Changes in immunological parameters showed a favourable course; it was expressed in depressed levels of neurosensitization, normalization of the concentrations of serum immunoglobulins, share and absolute amounts of T- and B-lymphocytes and elevation of their functional activity. The corrective effect of levamisole on humoral immunity seems to be a significant factor of overcoming tolerance to psychopharmacotherapy. The conducted study makes it possible to recommend the use of levamisole in the treatment of resistant forms of schizophrenia running an unfavourable course, exogenic-organic and other psychoses.

RESUMEN

Piracetam influence on the depth of consciousness loss and psychic function recovery was examined in two groups of 30 patients (study and control) selected at random. The study was carried out in conditions of a specialized department for patients with acute virus neuroinfections. Accelerated periods of egress from unconsciousness (including coma), high rate of reduction of psychoorganic and somatovegetative disorders followed by successful rehabilitation were characteristic of patients given piracetam from the disease onset. The results obtained permit recommending piracetam for wide use in neuroinfections.

RESUMEN

A study of patients with severe forms of neuroinfections permitted to follow up the development of psychopathological syndromes and detect some correlations between their structures and the traits of the different stages of the disease. At the acne of the disease there are frequent and severe syndromes of disturbed consciousness with the prevalence of deep unconscious states compared to the more obliviated productive variants in the framework of exogenous types of psychic reactions. On the eventual stages of the disease there are distinct correlations between the severity of the acute period and the formation of more expressed variants of the psychoorganic syndrome (organic brain syndrome). Extensive possibilities to a regressive development of the above-mentioned mental disorders are determined by such factors as young age, due time and comprehensive therapy with the use of psychopharmacological drugs and individual rehabilitative methods.
