RESUMEN

UNLABELLED: The aim of the study was to assess the possibility and effectiveness of hopaten acid use for early postoperative cognitive dysfunction correction in children of school age. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In compliance with inclusion and exclusion criteria, totally 40 children of school age (7-16 years old, ASA status I-II) with surgical pathology: (varicocele, cryptorchidism, inguinal hernia) were included A comperative assessment of neuropsychic status during pre - and postoperative are period in children, operated under propofol-fentanyl total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) was conducted All patients were randomized to the control (without cepebroprotection 1st group, 20 children) and experimental (using cepebroprotection with hopaten acid within 1 month after the operation, 2nd group, 20 children) groups. Dimension of the study: Harvard standard monitoring, respiratory gas composition, neuropsychic tests (Bourdon test, "10 words test", etc.). RESULTS: For full compatibility groups (age, ASA status and anthropometric data, equal operation duration and the equipotential drug dosage adjustment is revealed, that in group of propofol-fentanyl TIVA in the early postoperative period in school age children postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) is developing, which in case of absence of the corresponding correction is maintained after 1 month after operation (at least) in 80% of cases. In the application of hopaten acid cerebroprotection (40 mg/kg per day) severity of POCD reliably is reduced or compensated by the time of discharge from the hospital (3-7-th day when non-traumatic interventions), and 1 month after the operation in 30% of patients experienced improvement of cognitive functions, which proves the effectiveness of hopaten acid for POCD treatment. CONCLUSION: In case of propofol-fentanyl TIVA anesthesia in children of school age is indicated preventive prescription of multimodal cerebroprotectors without age limitations (for example hopaten acid (40 mg/kg per day) for POCD treatment.

RESUMEN

Light microscopic examination of the hippocampus was carried out in young rats (intact and injected with propofol and mexidol according to different protocols). Propofol had a negative effect on hippocampal neurons causing an almost 2-fold increase in the count of modified cells in comparison with the normal level. Mexidol effectively corrected these shifts.

RESUMEN

Hyperbaric oxygenation (HBO) was used for the treatment of 64 patients suffering from parkinsonism of different etiology. HBO sessions were provided daily, 8-12 per course, the treatment pressure amounted to 1.3-2 atm exposure to 40-60 minutes. The beneficial effect was marked in 55 patients. The results of the treatment turned out better in vascular parkinsonism, in patients under 65 years, with a disease standing of 1-5 years. The akineticorigid syndrome regressed to a greater degree, whereas in trembling hyperkinesis, HBO turned out to be less potent.

RESUMEN

The results of clinico-electromyographic examinations point to a sufficiently high effectiveness of hyperbaric oxygenation in polyradiculoneuritis and permit its inclusion into the multimodality treatment of the latter. Hyperbaric oxygenation (HBO) accelerates regression of neurological disorders, with the predominant effect on the severity of motor and autonomic-trophic disturbances. HBO makes it possible to reduce the doses of glucocorticoids and the period of treatment and hospitalization of patients.

RESUMEN

The use of hyperbaric oxygenation (HBO) in the treatment of vertebrogenic ischemic myelopathies makes it possible not only to arrest the progression of the disease but also to achieve stable regress of motor disturbances in a relatively short period, which helps to reduce the time of treatment and hospitalization. In lateral amyotrophic sclerosis HBO therapy produces a minimum and short positive effect only in some patients. In most cases the therapy failed to control or stabilize neurological disorders. Clinical data are confirmed by dynamic electromyographic studies. The results obtained make it possible to recommend HBO in a complex of therapeutic measures in cases of vascular damage to the spinal cord.

RESUMEN

A total of 112 patients with various diseases of the spinal cord were examined using spinal endoscopy. It is concluded on the basis of the findings obtained that this method is fairly reliable in detecting the pathological process in the cerebrospinal canal including secondary changes in its membranes and cerebrospinal radicals with the vessels attached to the latter which can develop in some forms of spinal diseases. While admitting the diagnostic significance of radioisotopic, roentgenocontrast and other methods of studying the spinal cord the authors consider spinal endoscopy to be fairly promising in terms of the topic and differential diagnosis of various disorders of the spinal cord, membranes and radicals which is crucial for early surgical of therapeutic management of the disease.
