RESUMEN

In late 2019, COVID-19 appeared and has since spread worldwide as the new pandemic, causing more than 6 million deaths. In dealing with this global crisis, the contribution of Artificial Intelligence was also important through the possibilities of creating predictive models through Machine Learning algorithms, which are already successfully applied to solving a multitude of problems, for many scientific fields. This work aims to find the best model for predicting the mortality of patients with COVID-19, through the comparison of 6 classification algorithms, i.e. Logistic Regression, Decision Trees, Random Forest, eXtreme Gradient Boosting, Multi-Layer Perceptrons, K-Nearest Neighbors. We used a dataset containing more than 12 million cases which was cleansed, modified, and tested for each model. The best model is XGBoost (Precision: 0.93764, Recall: 0.95472, F1-score: 0.9113, AUC_ROC: 0.97855 and Runtime: 6.67306 sec), which is recommended for the prediction and priority treatment of patients with high mortality risk.

RESUMEN

During the first months of COVID-19 pandemic, authorities of many countries imposed to educational institutions of all educational levels, the online delivery of their courses to prevent the spread of SARS-CoV-2. We investigated the perceptions and first experiences of Nursing students that attended the synchronous distance learning undergraduate course of Health Informatics. Respondents' perceptions and experiences were positive regarding the design and material of the course and the discussions with their peers while the technical support was negatively rated. Students could not decide if distance learning is more difficult than traditional or whether distance learning is more time consuming than traditional learning. Nursing students prefer traditional learning as they stated that they learn more and feel more comfortable to participate in personal discussions. Distance learning can be ameliorated by careful design, more interaction initiatives, creative methods to enhance learning and availability of timely technical support. Future research should be conducted in a larger sample.

RESUMEN

The European Union Network for Patient Safety (EUNetPaS) is a project funded and supported by the European Commission within the 2007 Public Health Programme and aims to encourage and enhance the collaboration of participating EU countries in the field of Patient Safety. One of its major objectives is to promote Patient Safety (PS) education and training in Member States, through building a platform for mutual exchange of experience and knowledge on methods of planning and implementing sustainable learning activities. Towards this direction, a methodology has been applied, based on a three axes schema, which describes the roles, the awareness level and the competences of the PS Education and Training Activities. Based on this scheme, a questionnaire has been developed and distributed across EU organizations though National Contact Points, as a tool for information collection. Looking to the above structure, a web-based resource has been developed aiming to facilitate the information collection and sharing, in a truly networking environment.
