RESUMEN

This work chiefly explores fractional-order octonion-valued neural networks involving delays. We decompose the considered fractional-order delayed octonion-valued neural networks into equivalent real-valued systems via Cayley-Dickson construction. By virtue of Lipschitz condition, we prove that the solution of the considered fractional-order delayed octonion-valued neural networks exists and is unique. By constructing a fairish function, we confirm that the solution of the involved fractional-order delayed octonion-valued neural networks is bounded. Applying the stability theory and basic bifurcation knowledge of fractional order differential equations, we set up a sufficient condition remaining the stability behaviour and the appearance of Hopf bifurcation for the addressed fractional-order delayed octonion-valued neural networks. To illustrate the justifiability of the derived theoretical results clearly, we give the related simulation results to support these facts. Simultaneously, the bifurcation plots are also displayed. The established theoretical results in this work have important guiding significance in devising and improving neural networks.

RESUMEN

This paper aims to analyse stability and Hopf bifurcation of the HIV-1 model with immune delay under the functional response of the Holling II type. The global stability analysis has been considered by Lyapunov-LaSalle theorem. And stability and the sufficient condition for the existence of Hopf Bifurcation of the infected equilibrium of the HIV-1 model with immune response are also studied. Some numerical simulations verify the above results. Finally, we propose a novel three dimension system to the future study.

RESUMEN

Capacitive deionization (CDI) is a promising electrochemical water treatment technology. Development of new electrode materials with higher performance is key to improve the desalination efficiency of CDI. Carbon nanomaterials derived from metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have attracted wide attention for their porous nanostructures and large specific surface areas. The desalination capacity and cycling stability of MOF-derived carbons (MOFCs) have been greatly improved by means of morphology control, heteroatom doping, Faradaic material modification, etc. Despite progress has been made to improve their CDI performance, quite a lot of MOFCs are too costly to be applied in a large scale. It remains crucial to develop MOFCs with both high desalination efficiency and low cost. In this review, we summarized three modification methods of MOFCs, namely morphology control, heteroatom doping, and Faradaic material doping, and put forward some constructive advice on how to enhance the desalination performance of MOFCs effectively at a low cost. We hope that more efforts could be devoted to the industrialization of MOFCs for CDI.

RESUMEN

This paper is concerned with the shunting inhibitory cellular neural networks with time-varying delays. Under some suitable conditions, we establish some criteria on the existence and global exponential stability of the almost automorphic solutions of the networks. Numerical simulations are given to support the theoretical findings.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVES: Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer-related death. Cryosurgery has emerged as a promising new technique for treatment. Although 80% of pancreatic cancers are located in the pancreatic head, no research has been conducted on the safety and efficacy of cryosurgery for these tumors. METHODS: Two groups of Tibetan miniature pigs (n = 4 per group) underwent cryosurgery to the pancreatic head with either the deep freezing protocol (100% argon output) or shallow freezing protocol (10% argon output), and compared to sham-operated pigs. RESULTS: Serum inflammatory factors and amylase increased during the 5 days after cryoablation in both groups but acute pancreatitis did not occur. Adhesions were observed between the pancreatic head and adjacent organs, and only minor trauma was caused to the stomach, duodenum, small intestine, and liver. Ice balls with a radius of 0.5 cm beyond the tumor edge were sufficient to cause complete necrosis of the pancreatic tissue, and decreased the degree of cold injury to surrounding tissues. CONCLUSIONS: Shallow freezing protocol seemed to be safer than, and just as effective as, the deep freezing protocol. This preliminary study suggests that cryosurgery could potentially be an effective treatment of cancer of the pancreatic head.

RESUMEN

The purpose of this study was to compare a dual-freeze protocol with a triple-freeze protocol for pulmonary cryoablation in a porcine lung model. Five dual- (10-5-10-5) and five triple-freeze (5-5-5-5-10-5) cryoablations were performed on an exposed operation field in normal porcine lung. Changes in the temperature of the cryoprobes and the diameter of the iceballs were measured during the ablation and pathologic changes in the cryozones (zones of tissue destruction) were reviewed 7 days after the procedure. The diameter of the iceball surface differed between the two protocols. Pathologically, the triple-freeze protocol was associated with a longer complete necrosis zone than the dual-freeze protocol, though the two protocols produced cryolesions and cryozones of similar length, and in both cases there were five areas of tissue destruction. With the same duration of freezing (20 min), the triple-freeze protocol may be better for pulmonary cryoablation than the dual-freeze protocol.

RESUMEN

In this paper, a class of simplified tri-neuron BAM network model with two delays is considered. By applying the frequency domain approach and analyzing the associated characteristic equation, the existence of bifurcation parameter point is determined. If the sum tau of delays tau(1) and tau(2) is chosen as a bifurcation parameter, it is found that Hopf bifurcation occurs when the sum tau passes through a series of critical values. The direction and the stability of Hopf bifurcation periodic solutions are determined by the Nyquist criterion and the graphical Hopf bifurcation theorem. Some numerical simulations for justifying the theoretical analysis are also provided. Finally, main conclusions are given.
