RESUMEN

Charge-transfer mechanisms in adaptive multicomponent solutions at liquid-solid interfaces with triboelectric probes are crucial for understanding chemistry dynamics. However, liquid-solid charge transfer becomes unpredictable, due to the components or interactions in solutions, restricting its potential application for precise monitoring of liquid environments. This study utilizes triboelectric probes to investigate the charge transfer of chemicals, applying this approach to real-time coolant state monitoring. Analysis of electrical signal dynamics induced by ethylene glycol and its oxidation byproduct, oxalic acid, in ethylene glycol solutions reveals that hydrogen bond and ion adsorption diminishes the efficiency of electron transfer at the liquid-solid interface. These findings promote the engineering of the triboelectric probe that enhances coolant quality with remarkable sensitivity (detection limit: 0.0001%) and a broad freezing point operational range (0 to -49 °C). This work advances the precise control of the charge dynamics and demonstrates the potential of triboelectric probes for interdisciplinary applications.

RESUMEN

Polyethylene oxide (PEO)-based electrolytes are the most widely used solid polymer electrolyte (SPE) due to their high safety, excellent ability to dissociate lithium salts, low cost, and ease of preparation. However, low ionic conductivity and narrow electrochemical stability window limit their potential for further development. "Polymer-in-salt" electrolytes exhibit superior electrochemical performance; however, the high lithium salt concentration makes the SPE mechanically fragile when facing lithium dendrites. Therefore, preparing an SPE that can withstand a high concentration of lithium salt while still maintaining good mechanical properties has become a valuable challenge. In this study, a macroscopically homogeneous but nanoscopically phase-separated polymer matrix was designed as an electrolyte that can withstand a high concentration of lithium salt while retaining good mechanical properties, and this study investigated changes in the Li+ solvation structure within the electrolyte and analyzed the reasons for the simultaneous achievement of good ionic conductivity (1.02 × 10-3 S cm-1 at 60 °C) and mechanical properties (7 MPa at room temperature). The formation of large ion clusters at the phase interface and selective enrichment of lithium salt in specific regions are found to play crucial roles, and the critical current density (CCD) can reach a value of 2.2 mA cm-2. This work demonstrates a promising design approach for polymer electrolytes that achieves an optimal balance between SPE conductivity and mechanical properties through microstructure control.

RESUMEN

Supramolecular polymers (SPs) exhibit intriguing benefits in functional soft materials due to their dynamic bonding feature. However, most SPs can only exist in the solution state and fail to form bulk materials, which limits their applications. Here, we report the fabrication of semi-solid bulk SP materials by using polyoxometalate (POM) nanoclusters as supramolecular cross-linkers to solidify a deep eutectic solvent (DES). The abundant protons and strong hydrogen bonds afforded by POMs enable these SP materials as superprotonic conductive electrolytes with sufficient mechanical strength, showing a proton conductivity more than 1×10-4  S cm-1 and a breaking strength exceeding 1 MPa at room temperature. Moreover, the thermodynamic reversibility of the SP electrolytes allows them to form a stable electrode-electrolyte interface by a facile melt-infiltration strategy upon mild heating, which leads to improved performance in supercapacitors. This work presents an innovative DES/POM hybrid system as a promising platform to develop functional supramolecular materials for energy and electronic applications.

RESUMEN

Compressibility of zinc-manganese oxide (Zn-MnO2) batteries is an essential element of modern flexible electronics. Hydrogel electrolytes with superior elasticity and compressibility are highly demand to guarantee a stable energy output of the flexible Zn-MnO2 battery. Herein, a highly compressible hydrogel electrolyte was developed by introducing soybean protein isolate nanoparticles (SPI) into covalently cross-linked polyacrylamide (PAAM) polymer networks. The SPI/PAAM hydrogel electrolyte for Zn-MnO2 battery possessed outstanding reversible compressibility due to the aggregation of SPI nanoparticles on the PAAM chains through the weak electrostatic interaction, which could dissipate energy effectively. Consequently, the Zn-MnO2 battery based on the compressible hydrogel electrolyte displayed a decent specific capacity (299.3 mA h g-1) and desirable capacity retention rate (78.2%) after 500 charge/discharge cycles. Notably, the device could maintain stable power output under 96% compress strain and light the bulb even under severe mechanical stimulation like being-bent and hammered. It's believed that the compressible Zn-MnO2 batteries hold enormous potential as the energy storage devices in the field of flexible wearable electronics.

RESUMEN

The growing application domain of energy storage devices (ESDs) is leading research to temperature tolerant supercapacitors. To realize reliable and safe devices, high modulus solid electrolytes are favored by most researchers. However, the inferior infiltrating ability of such electrolytes usually results in poor electrochemical performances of the ESDs. Herein, we adopted a hierarchical optimization strategy to address the aforementioned interfacial issues. Continuous ionic percolation throughout the hierarchical pores of the 3D electrode was formed by in-situ introducing an ionogel buffer layer. Benefiting from this, the rate of ions diffusing within electrodes was increased by 5 times. Furthermore, the kinetics of ions entering into nanopores was improved via introducing small size ions into ionic liquids (ILs) and adjusting the solvated structures. Both the capacity and rate performance of the electrochemical double layer capacitors (EDLCs) were improved. Additionally, the buffer layer exhibited sufficient thermostability to cooperate with poly(ether ether ketone) (PEEK)-based solid electrolyte. Consequently, the EDLCs exhibited excellent cycling stability (79% capacitance retention after 5000 cycles) at 120 °C and delivered a maximum energy density of 46.9 Wh kg-1 with a power density of 926.9 W kg-1. Our strategy is believed to be effective to cooperate with various solid electrolyte systems and offer a general design principle for durable and high performance EDLCs.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To provide the evidence of the relationship between brain injury and the time of injury. METHODS: Rats were contused on brain by fluid percussion, then were killed after injury for 15 min, 30 min, 1,3,6,12 h, and 1,4,7,14 d respectively. The expression of caspase-8 were detected by immunohistochemical technology on rat brain section and the results were assessed by image analysis system in the cerebral cortex, thalamus, and hippocampus. RESULTS: The expression of caspase-8 in cortex and hippocampus could be detected in 30 min after injury, increased significantly in 3h, reached apex in 1d after injury, remained 4d before decreased. In addition, the expression of caspase-8 can be detected in 1h after injury and reached apex in 1d after injury, and remained 4d then reduced. CONCLUSION: It seems that the expression of caspase-8 should be a useful target for diagnosis of early brain injury.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To scrutinize the epidemiological characteristics of assaultive injuries in Sichuan province, China. METHODS: A survey of all cases of assaultive injuries reported by police was performed during 8 years in eight counties of Sichuan province, China. A total of 2862 victims and 2856 offenders were registered. RESULTS: The majority of victims and offenders were young men at the age of 20-39 and only received an education at secondary school or primary school. The largest fraction of these cases took place at farm or by-place during 10.00-11.00 o'clock, 16.00-17.00 o'clock and 20.00-21.00 o'clock. The tangles caused by trifles were the most common factors inducing assaultive injuries and accounted for 42.1 percent of the causes of assaults. Blunt injuries were mainly caused by punching (40%) and kicking (17.2%). About 37.3% of the lesions seriously happened in the regions of face and head. Open wounds accounted for 40.3% of these different injuries. CONCLUSIONS: It is valuable to take some specific measures to prevent and control assaultive injuries according to their territorial characteristics.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To inquire into the pathologic diagnosis and the dating of injuries of light closed encephalon injury. METHODS: Wistar rats were hurt by fluid percussion, and were killed respectively at 15 min, 30 min, 1 h, 3 h, 6 h, 12 h, 1 d, 4 d, 7 d, and 14 d after injury. The expression of Fas in the cerebral cortex, thalamus, and hippocampi was detected by immunohistochemistry and the results were assessed by image analysis system. RESULTS: The results showed that the expression of Fas could be detected in thirty minutes after injury, and then it increased significantly in three hours, reached apex in twelve hours after injury, decreased gradually in four days after injury, and returned to normal in 14 days after injury. CONCLUSION: This research demonstrated that Fas-mediated apoptosis appeared not only around brain trauma but also in the brain tissue far away from the traumatic area. It indicted that Fas expression is a useful target for diagnosis of early brain injury and the regularity of Fas expression could be used as one of indications in deducing the time of brain injury.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To elucidate the changes of PDGF-B chain in the brain injured by fluid percussion. METHODS: The expression of PDGF-B protein was studied by immunohistochemistry and the results were assessed by image analysis system. RESULTS: Enhanced expression of PDGF-B protein induced by fluid percussion injury was seen at 1 h, and its marked up-regulation was noted at 4-7 days, and then the expression became decreased but it remained above the control levels till 14 days after injury. CONCLUSION: Fluid percussion brain injury induced expression of PDGF-B. The regular change pattern of PDGF-B level in time course seems to be of value in estimating the age of brain injury.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: This study sought to reveal the relationship between Snap-25 and tetramine poisoning in order to approach the mechanism of tetramine poisoning. METHODS: The levels of Snap-25 mRNA in the brain tissues of poisoned SD rats were detected by RT-PCR method. RESULTS: After 1 hour of intoxication, the expression level of Snap-25 mRNA did not change in the rat brain. It increased at day 1 and reached its peak at day 3. The expression level of Snap-25 mRNA begain to descend at day 5, but it was still higher than that in the rat brain tissue of control group. CONCLUSION: In this study the expression of Snap-25 of rat poisoned by tetramine was not markedly increased in the early stage of poisoning, indicating that the symptoms of rat poisoned by tetramine are not induced by the changes of the Snap-25 level. The mechanism of high expression in Snap-25 mRNA probably involves the negative feedback of the body, which may increase the releasing of neurohumor and hence mitigate the symptoms of poisoning.
