RESUMEN

The hemodynamic respiratory results and analgesic quality of ketamine administered as an IV infusion are studied. For the infants weighing less than 10 kg. The increases in arterial pressure and heart rate are not readily acceptable all the less as the ketamine requirement for good analgesia is very important. For the infant weighing more than 10 kg, the procedure of this technique is approximatively the same for the adult. The explanation of these problems is perhaps connected to the larger extra-cellular fluid volumes of young children and to their brain immaturity.

RESUMEN

The electric activity of the small intestine above and below an oblique myotomy was studied in the rabbit. In most cases, there was noted a definite increase in the amplitude of the electric recording above the functional obstruction showing increased peristalsis. This phenomenon seems to become attenuated with time, perhaps owing to the technical conditions of this study. Myotomy of the small intestine seems, in the light of these recordings, to be very efficacious. The authors compare it with other procedures which may be used to slow intestinal transit and suggest carrying out long or multiple myotomies, perhaps associated with one of the other techniques to increase the efficacy.

RESUMEN

The abusive and inappropriate use of antibiotics in digestive surgery has led to the selection of multi-resistant strains responsible for sometimes dramatic infective complications. The study of the normal digestive flora under pathological conditions, knowledge of the mechanisms of resistance, led us to propose the use of antibiotics with circumspection, depending on the germ isolated and the probable efficacy of the drugs. Prophylactic antibiotic therapy is only justified with regard to gram positive anaerobic bacteria or, in exceptional cases, where the risk seems high and may irremediably compromise the surgical procedure. Curative antibiotic therapy, after treatment of the infective focus, is often sufficient but depends on the bacteria: Whether anaerobic, staphylococci of Gram negative bacilli, with regard to which one should use narrow spectrum single antibiotics.

RESUMEN

In the light of experimental studies on balloons of several intubation tubes, the concepts of occlusive pressure, tracheal pressure and minimum occlusive volume are defined and dissociated. An in vivo study made it possible to determine the importance of the tracheal mucous pulse, the suppression of which could contribute to tracheal stenosis.
