RESUMEN

The authors followed up 50 children with various types of partial gigantism of the upper and lower extremities. The specific features of vascularization in the diseased organs were defined and the prognostically important measure--the growth proportionality index--was determined. A classification of partial gigantism in children was proposed.

RESUMEN

The authors analyse the results of using a Kaskad electromagnetic apparatus in 508 children with long-term ununited fractures, false joints, contractures, sluggish wounds, decubituses, trophical ulcers, osteochondropathies, Pertes' disease, and crush syndrome. The efficiency of the therapy was 75-90%, depending on the type of an abnormality. The authors had developed and put into practice a Kaskad-synchro electromagnetic apparatus synchronized with the pulse of a patient's arterial vessel. Such a high efficiency of the electromagnetic therapy bioadequate to man is likely to be explained by the exposure of electromagnetic waves directly to the areas of bone marrow hemopoiesis. To elucidate this, the authors made an experiment on dogs. The results of this experiment are being processed.

RESUMEN

For evaluation of the viability of the skin flaps in treatment of the scalped wounds in 40 children, the oxygen tension, initial and after the 2-minute oxygen load, and as well the rate of oxygen consumption by the tissue of an autotransplant after its saturation under the conditions of hyperbaric oxygenation were defined. These indices permit to predict the survival of the skin flaps.

RESUMEN

The authors have used the method of induced chemoluminescence of the wound release for an objective assessment of the course of the wound process and the efficiency of the chosen treatment. The investigations were performed in 20 children with postoperative and posttraumatic wounds of soft tissues.

RESUMEN

During the first three days after trauma a pronounced hypotonia of muscles independent of the localization of the vertebral column was observed. Two patients of mathematical estimation of the clinoid form of the vertebra were proposed aimed at objectivization of the roentgenological information. In 90% of cases the methods proved to be effective. Gamma scintigraphic examination of the vertebral column was carried out in 101 patients. The results obtained have shown the method to be highly sensitive and objective and to distinguish the normal state, disease and trauma of the vertebral column
