RESUMEN

We present a case of neonatal lupus erythematosus (NLE) in a black infant presenting with symmetrical depigmented macules on the face resembling vitiligo. NLE is a rare condition affecting newborn infants of mothers who have connective tissue disease, with or without autoantibodies to extractable nuclear antigens Ro (SS-A), La (SS-B) or ribonucleoproteins. Infants present with cutaneous lesions or congenital heart block or both. The skin lesions are usually annular and erythematous and transient and resemble those of subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus. The presentation of this patient was therefore striking.

RESUMEN

We report a 52-year-old man who presented with severe chronic bilateral orbital oedema, and dysmorphic features characteristic of Noonan's syndrome. No recognized cause of the orbital oedema was found. This is the first report of late-onset orbital oedema in association with Noonan's syndrome, a condition known to be associated with widespread lymphatic hypoplasia and ectasia.

RESUMEN

Twenty-nine patients with bilateral psoriasis were treated with clobetasol propionate ointment on one side of the body and fluocinolone acetonide ointment on the other in a double-blind clinical trial lasting 6 months. With one exception, after the first month of treatment, all patients responded better on the clobetasol propionate treated side. There was a tendency for any relapses to be less rapid and less severe in clobetasol propionate treated lesions. No adverse effects from either steroid were observed.
