The purpose of the work was comparison of reactivity of patients with the lepromatous and the tuberculoid type of leprosy. To 15 patients with the lepromatous and to 20 patients the tuberculoid type several antigens were administered intradermally. The antigens were obtained from alcohol - and acidfast microorganisms isolated from:- skin changes of cases lepromatous type, - skin of a case with tuberculoid type, - skin of a healthy person. The reactions to standard lepromin served as a reference. No correlation was found between the clinical picture, bacteriological examination and reactions to standard lepromin. A high percentage of positive results, observed in the group of cases with lepromatous type, using the antigen prepared from a patient with tuberculoid leprosy is of particular interest. This phenomenon may depend on differences within HLA subgroups in patients with the lepromatous and the tuberculoid type of leprosy.
