RESUMEN

Several demographic studies have been done to identify children at risk for Baby Bottle Tooth Decay (BBTD). Discussions have described these children with Baby Bottle Tooth Decay as strong tempered, cranky, restless, and fussy. The parents of these children have acknowledged these behaviors. To determine whether there were differences in temperament, children with Baby Bottle Tooth Decay were compared with children without Baby Bottle Tooth Decay by assessing the nine temperament components described by the Toddler Temperament Scale (TTS) questionnaire. Parents completed the temperament questionnaire and ninety-two children between twelve and thirty-six months old were studied. Scores for the nine temperament components were tabulated and temperament difficulty was determined as defined by the authors of the toddler Temperament Scale. At-test comparison between the two groups revealed no significant difference for the nine temperament components. There was also no difference when comparing clusters of the nine components. The conclusion is that there is no difference in the temperaments between the group of children with Baby Bottle Tooth Decay and the comparison group of children without Baby Bottle Tooth Decay.

RESUMEN

The Peripheral Ossifying Fibroma is an inflammatory lesion which most often appears in twenty-five to thirty-four-year-old females. It averages 1.0 cm at its greatest dimension. This case reports a seven-year-eight-month-old female who presented with a peripheral ossifying fibroma lesion which measured 2.7 cm by 1.5 cm by 1.0 cm. A review of peripheral ossifying fibroma, and the management and postsurgical sequelae of this child are discussed.

RESUMEN

Spread of spinal cord glioblastoma multiforme to the intracranial compartment is uncommon. This report documents a case of metastatic spread of glioblastoma multiforme from the spinal cord to an intracranial arachnoid cyst. Seeding of the cyst cavity could have occurred by direct permeation of the cyst wall by the neoplastic glial cells spreading via the cerebrospinal fluid or by direct access of the cells through a defect in the arachnoid cyst wall and their subsequent entrapment by a ball valve type mechanism, leading to multiple implants.

RESUMEN

Malignant angioendotheliomatosis (MAE) is a rare disorder characterized by the intravascular proliferation of neoplastic mononuclear cells. Until recently, the cell of origin was uncertain; some investigators reported MAE to be lymphomatous in nature, while others claimed it to be of endothelial derivation. In the present unusual case, MAE was an incidental findings in the prostate of a patient with prostatic adenocarcinoma; it is shown to be a lymphoma of B-cell origin.
