RESUMEN
The examination of an outbreak of brucellosis in domestic pigs showed unambiguously the existence of a natural focus of infection in the population of wild boars. Contrary to former assumptions persistence of Br. suis, Biovar 2, to occur mainly in the population of hares, evidently a change of hosts has taken place. Possible cause might be a contrary development of the density of these wild animal populations. Health control of wild animals should not be neglected, as it is an important part of the prevention of epidemic diseases.
