RESUMEN

Naturally obtained materials are preferable for the production of biomedicine in biomedical applications. Acacia gum is has recently become a hopeful one in the biomedicine production due to its excellent properties, namely, emulsifier, stabilizing mediator, suspending agent, etc. In this novel work, we synthesised and characterized the deesterified Acacia gum-alginate nanohydrogel (DEA-AG NPs) as a carrier for amethopterin (ATN) delivery. This combination is used in the drug effectiveness and tissue engineering. In this work, the Taguchi route is implemented for estimating of particle size and zeta potential (mV) through optimization. Following three parameters are considered for this work: DEA solution concentration (0.008, 0.016, 0.024, and 0.032 w/v %), alginate molecular weight (3, 6, 9, and 12 MW), and ATN/DEA ratio (1 : 4, 1 : 8, 1 : 12, and 1 : 16 w/w %). In particle size analysis and zeta potential analysis, the DEA solution concentration is highly influenced. Minimum particle size is found as 148.50 nm. Similarly, maximum zeta potential is identified as 29.5 mV.

Next generation sequencing (NGS) technologies have revolutionized the pace and scale of genomics- and transcriptomics-based SNP discovery across different plant and animal species. Herein, 72-base paired-end Illumina sequencing was employed for high-throughput, parallel and large-scale SNP discovery in 41 growth-related candidate genes in Eucalyptus camaldulensis. Approximately 100 kb of genome from 96 individuals was amplified and sequenced using a hierarchical DNA/PCR pooling strategy and assembled over corresponding E. grandis reference. A total of 1191 SNPs (minimum 5% other allele frequency) were identified with an average frequency of 1 SNP/83.9 bp, whereas in exons and introns, it was 1 SNP/108.4 bp and 1 SNP/65.6 bp, respectively. A total of 75 insertions and 89 deletions were detected of which approximately 15% were exonic. Transitions (Tr) were in excess than transversions (Tv) (Tr/Tv: 1.89), but exceeded in exons (Tr/Tv: 2.73). In exons, synonymous SNPs (Ka) prevailed over the non-synonymous SNPs (Ks; average Ka/Ks ratio: 0.72, range: 0-3.00 across genes). Many of the exonic SNPs/indels had potential to change amino acid sequence of respective genes. Transcription factors appeared more conserved, whereas enzyme coding genes appeared under relaxed control. Further, 541 SNPs were classified into 196 'equal frequency' (EF) blocks with almost similar minor allele frequencies to facilitate selection of one tag-SNP/EF-block. There were 241 (approximately 20%) 'zero-SNP' blocks with absence of SNPs in surrounding ±60 bp windows. The data thus indicated enormous extant and unexplored diversity in E. camaldulensis in the studied genes with potential applications for marker-trait associations.

Eucalyptus is the most economically important hardwood plantation tree cultivated in tropical and subtropical countries. Inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR) markers were used to evaluate genetic relationships within and between individuals of six Eucalyptus species. A total of 583 loci (265 to 1535 bp) were amplified from 149 individuals belonging to the six Eucalyptus species using seven ISSR primers (two to three nucleotide repeats anchored with one or two nucleotides at the 3' or 5' region). The ISSR fragments indicated significant polymorphism and genetic diversity among the individuals. Cluster analysis and principal component analysis revealed the occurrence of wide genetic diversity among populations of E. tereticornis Sm., E. camaldulensis Dehnh. and E. urophylla S.T. Blake and narrow genetic diversity among populations of E. citriodora Hook. and E. grandis W. Hill ex Maiden. Genetic diversity was high in E. tereticornis Sm. (47.27%) and low in E. citriodora (18.64%). Maximum Nei's genetic identity (0.897) was observed between E. camaldulensis and E. tereticornis species, whereas maximum genetic diversity (0.286) was found between individuals of E. citriodora and E. grandis.

RESUMEN

Biopsy specimens from 93 patients with mycetoma were examined histologically; Streptomyces pelletieri was found in 12 cases. In addition, two cases of actinomycetoma pedis in which S pelletieri has been isolated in culture are described. In both, the characteristic red granules were seen.
