RESUMEN

The expression, function and prognostic significance of epoxide hydrolase 2 (EPHX2) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) were comprehensively analyzed through collecting HCC tissues and public database. The GEO and MitoCarta databases were used to identify the mitochondria-related differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in HCC. The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database was applied to analyze the expression levels of DEGs in HCC, including EPHX2 and its co-expressed genes. The R package was applied to draw the Kaplan-Meier survival curve and gene function enrichment analysis. The STRING database and GSEA software were used to analyze the protein-protein interaction (PPI) network and gene set enrichment analysis. qPCR and GEO database were applied to verify the expression level of EPHX2 in HCC. In the present study, a total of 15 mitochondria-related DEGs were identified in HCC. The expression of EPHX2 in HCC was significantly decreased compared to the normal liver tissues (P < 0. 01). The expression of EPHX2 was related to gender, tumor stage and grade in HCC, but not associated with age, T stage, et al in HCC. Moreover, compared with the patients with lower expression of EPHX2, patients with higher expression of EPHX2 had a better prognosis. EPHX2 was associated with fatty acid degradation. In addition, PPI results indicated that HAO1, AGXT, ACOX1, GSTκ1, SCP-2, CAT, CYP2C8, CYP2C9, CYP2B6, and CYP2J2 were co-expressed with EPXH2 in HCC. Furthermore, GSEA results showed that the group with lower expression of EPHX2 was positively correlated with the gene set of liver cancer cell proliferation and liver cancer recurrence. qPCR and GEO database results verified that the expression of EPHX2 was significantly decreased in HCC. The expression of EPHX2 was decreased in HCC, strongly suggesting that EPHX2 might function as a tumor suppressor gene in HCC. However, the potential mechanism of EPHX2 in HCC needs to be further verified.

RESUMEN

A split-plot experiment was conducted to study the optimum planting density of Nuomi yam in directional groove shallow cultivation. Nuomi yam was the main local cultivar of Dioscorea. The study of this paper may help to give valuable instructions of local production. Three different planting densities and shallow groove diameter were designed in the experiment. The results showed that the fresh weight of aerial part per plant, yield and planting benefit of Nuomi yam tuber were the highest when the planting density was 12 000 plants/hm~2 and the diameter of shallow growth groove was 11.0 cm, while they were the lowest when the planting density was 22 500 plants/hm~2 and the diameter of shallow growth groove was 7.5 cm. Along with the increase of planting density, the fresh weight of aerial part, tuber, fresh yield, benefit and commercial tuber rate of Nuomi yam also decreased. The commercial tuber rate of Nuomi yam of 11.0 cm diameter in shallow growing pot was the highest, while it was the lowest with no shallow growing pot. On the contrary, the content of amylopectin and mucin was the highest when there was no shallow groove, and was the lowest when the diameter of shallow groove was 7.5 cm, although there was no significant difference between the two treatments. Therefore, Nuomi yam with the directional cultivation combination of planting density of 12 000 plants/hm~2 and shallow groove diameter of 11.0 cm showed high yield, good appearance quality, high planting benefit and no obvious adverse effect on internal quality.

RESUMEN

Three different origins of Anoectochilus roburghii were used as experimental materials to study the effect of three different substrate( peat soil-river sand-peanut shell) radio on survival rate, plant height, stem diameter, plant fresh weight, root number, the longest root length, root diameter, and the contents of polysaccharide, flavonoids, and polyphenol. The results showed that when the substrate ratio was 4 ∶2 ∶2,the survival rate of A. roburghii from different origins was the highest, and the plant height, stem diameter, plant fresh weight, the longest root length and root diameter were also the largest. The cultivation substrate had no significant effect on the polysaccharide content of A. roxburghii and A. formosanus. When the substrate ratio was 4 ∶ 2 ∶ 2,the polysaccharide content of A.chapaensis was significantly lower than that of the other two combinations. When the substrate ratio was 4 ∶2 ∶1,the flavonoid content of A. formosanus was higher than that of the other two combinations. When the substrate ratio was 4 ∶2 ∶2,A. formosanus and A. chapaensis had higher polyphenol content.

RESUMEN

A water-soluble oligosaccharide was isolated from the water extract of soybean, which is widely grown worldwide due to its nutritional benefits of a full range of amino acids and a high protein content. In this study, we analysed chemical composition of soybean oligosaccharides (SBOS) using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The results obtained were compared with the following sugar standards: mannose, galactose, xylose, arabinose, fucose and glucose. Results showed that SBOS was composed of galactose (65.3%), mannose (15.6%), fructose (7.8%) and glucose (8.7%). The pharmacological action of SBOS has been studied in hyperlipidemic rats fed high-fat diet. In hyperlipidemic rats, feeding with SBOS (150 and 300 mg/kg b.w.) exerted a pharmacological effect as assessed by reversal of plasma levels of lactic acid, nitric oxide (NO), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) levels, and heart Na+-K+-ATPase, Ca2+-ATPase and Mg2+-ATPase activities. These results indicated that SBOS may have beneficial effects on the therapy of some heart diseases, such as coronary artery diseases.
