RESUMEN

In this work, a series of ordered mesoporous carbon nanomaterials (CMK-3) have been synthesized by a hard-template method at temperatures of 80 °C, 100 °C and 130 °C, which can serve as adsorbents for efficient adsorption of quinolones in aqueous solutions. The physicochemical properties and the morphologies of these CMK-3 have been well characterized, showing mesoporous channels with the specific surface area reaching up to 1290 m2/g. Adsorption studies have been performed on three hydrophobic quinolones: norfloxacin (NOR), ciprofloxacin (CIP) and enrofloxacin (ENR), with the adsorption capacities of 403 mg/g, 479 mg/g and 510 mg/g, respectively, at room temperature. The adsorption kinetics of the three quinolones are in accordance with the pseudo-second kinetic model, and the adsorption isotherm curves conform to Langmuir isotherm model. Significantly, the adsorption thermodynamics confirms that the adsorption processes are spontaneous endothermic. Finally, the adsorption mechanism has been discussed, which can be attributed to the synergistic effect of pore diffusion, hydrophobic bond, and electron donor-acceptor interaction.

RESUMEN

Long-term and high-dose glucocorticoid treatment is recognized as an important influencing factor for osteoporosis and osteonecrosis. Nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) is an intermediate of NAD+ biosynthesis, and is widely used to replenish the levels of NAD+. However, the potential role of NMN in glucocorticoidinduced osteogenic inhibition remains to be demonstrated. In the present study, the protective effects of NMN on dexamethasone (Dex)induced osteogenic inhibition, and its underlying mechanisms, were investigated. Bone mesenchymal stem cells were treated with Dex, which decreased the levels of the osteogenic markers alkaline phosphatase, Runtrelated transcription factor 2 and osteocalcin. NMN treatment attenuated Dexinduced osteogenic inhibition and promoted the expression of sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) and peroxisome proliferatoractivated receptor gamma coactivator (PGC)1α. SIRT1 knockdown reversed the protective effects of NMN and reduced the expression levels of PGC1α. Collectively, the results of the present study reveal that NMN may be a potential therapeutic target for glucocorticoidinduced osteoporosis.

RESUMEN

In this study, Fe3O4 NPs (named as Fe3O4 NPs-PO) were prepared by steel pickling waste liquor to reduce the cost of preparation, and were compared with those obtained by the common co-precipitation method (named as Fe3O4 NPs-CP) which prepared from chemical reagent using BET, XRD, XPS, TEM and SEM techniques. The results indicated that Fe3O4 NPs-PO nanoparticles mainly existed in the form of Fe3O4 and appeared to be roughly spherical in shape with a size range of 20-50 nm. The heterogeneous Fenton-like catalytic capacity of Fe3O4 NPs-PO in US+Fe3O4+H2O2 system was comprehensively investigated. BPA could be degraded within a wide pH range of 7-10. The removal efficiencies of BPA were close to 100% and about 45% total organic carbon (TOC) in solution was eliminated at the optimized conditions. It was found that ·OH radicals which mainly caused the degradation of BPA were promptly generated due to the catalysis of the Fe3O4 NPs-PO. Furthermore, the comparative study of catalytic activity, stability and reusability between Fe3O4 NPs-PO and Fe3O4 NPs-CP showed that the two catalysts both remained good activity after several reaction cycles and no significant change in composition and structure was observed, the loss of catalyst was negligible, which demonstrated that Fe3O4 NPs-PO were promising in ultrasonic Fenton-like process to treat refractory organics.
