RESUMEN

This study examined the effect of silane primers and bonding agents on bonding between layers of a light-activated composite material when repaired in the laboratory process. Disk specimens were prepared with the dentin portion of a composite material (Dentacolor DA-30) and abraded with a silicon carbide rotary cutting instrument. The specimens were conditioned with either one of the two silane primers (Porcelain Liner M and Silicer) or one of the two unfilled resin bonding agents (Dentacolor Opaker liquid and New Metacolor Photo Opaque liquid), or one of four combinations of two primers and two bonding agents. An intact surface with a thin air-inhibited unpolymerized layer, and an unprimed surface with only silicone carbide abrasion were also used for references. After placement of the enamel portion of the same brand of composite material (Dentacolor SA-30) on each surface of the dentin material, the specimens were light-exposed, and stored for 24 h in either dry or wet condition. Shear bond strengths were then determined with a mechanical testing device. The results showed that combined use of a silane primer and a bonding agent generally showed the greatest magnitude of bond strength regardless of material variation. The use of an unfilled resin bonding agent after application of a silane primer (Porcelain Liner M) is recommended to ensure adequate repair bonding between layers of the composite material.

RESUMEN

A resource family of pigs has been constructed by using a boar of Göttingen miniature pig and two sows of Meishan pig as parents. In the construction of the family, two F1 males and 18 F1 females were intercrossed to generate 143 F2 offspring. The members of the family were genotyped using 243 genetic markers including 26 markers developed in our laboratory in order to generate a linkage map of markers for use in detecting quantitative trait loci (QTLs) in the family. The markers consisted of 237 microsatellites, five PRE-1 markers, and one RFLP marker. The linkage map was revealed to cover all 18 autosomes and the X chromosome; and the total length of the sex-averaged linkage map was calculated to be 2561.9 CM. Four out of the 26 markers developed in our laboratory exended the current linkage map at the termini of chromosomes 1p, 5p, 11p, and Xq. The linkage maps of all the chromosomes except for chromosome 1 were found to be longer in females than in males. Concerning chromosome 1, the length of the linkage map showed no difference between females and males, which was attributed to low recombination rates between markers localized in the centromeric region in females. The average ratio of female-to-male recombination was calculated to be 1.55.

RESUMEN

This investigation evaluated the effect of unfilled resins and a silane primer on bonding between layers of a urethane-based composite resin veneering material. Shear bond strengths between the layers were determined with a two-liquid silane primer and three unfilled resin bonding agents. The silane primers and unfilled resins enhanced the bond between layers of the veneering material. Durability of the bond, however, was influenced by the composition of the bonding agent. Among the systems investigated, combined use of the silane primer with triethyleneglycol dimethacrylate-based unfilled resin exhibited durable and consistent bond strength.
