RESUMEN

In 157 typhoid fever patients and 36 practically healthy persons the content of neutrophils forming complement-dependent rosettes (NEAC rosette-forming cells), as well as rosettes with sheep red blood cells (NE rosette-forming cells) and with typhoid erythrocyte diagnosticum (NS rosette-forming cells), has been studied. The data obtained in this investigation indicate that antigen-binding neutrophils play an active functional role in the pathogenesis of typhoid fever at its acute stage. The values characterizing the content of N rosette-forming cells may be used as a criterion for the evaluation of the severity of infection, as well as for the prognostication of complications and relapses.

RESUMEN

The work presents the data on the dynamics of accululation of the main classes of immunoglobulins (A, G and M) in coprofiltrates obtained from patients with alimentary toxicoinfections (bacteriologically confirmed salmonellosis and diseases of unknown etiology). The levels of immunoglobulins of all classes (mainly IgA and IgG) were shown to be elevated in the process of the disease. The dynamics of the increase in the level of IgA (both general and secretory) was supposed to indicate the formation of local immunity in the intestinal wall. The presence of serum IgA and the characteristic IgG dynamics seemed to be indicative of destructive processes occurring in the intestinal wall. Thus, the dynamics of accumulation of immunoglobulins in coprofiltrates obtained from patients with alimentary toxicoinfections reflects the main local pathological and immunological processes.

RESUMEN

Comparative study of various methods of treatment was carried out on 777 patients suffering from acute dysentery with a bacteriologically confirmed diagnosis. To assess the therapeutic efficacy, along with consideration of clinical signs of the disease, immunoglobulin level was examined in the blood and coprofiltrates; also the state of reparative processes in the mucosa was appreciated by the histological examination of the biopsy material. Results of the work carried out indicated the inexpediency of the treatment of this disease with a combination of levomycetin and phthalazol. The use of live streptomycin-dependent dysentery vaccine was indicated in protracted torpid dysentery and was of no avail in acute form of the disease. A good therapeutic effect was observed with the application of pathogenetic therapy alone.

RESUMEN

The authors present the results of experimental-morphological study of the intestine and other internal organs of guinea pigs subjected and not subjected to starvation infected with a dysentery culture against the background of antiepithelial serum. A marked form of the infectious process with erosive-ulcerative affection of the cecum mostly developed in 70% of the former and in 58.8% of the latter animals.
