RESUMEN

Laser therapy was assessed for effects on lipoperoxides and free radical catchers in blood lipids of patients with bronchial asthma (BA). When a group of 52 BA patients was compared to healthy donors by dienic conjugates, vitamin E and overall lipid-soluble antioxidants levels in the whole blood and plasma, these appeared higher in the asthmatics. Combination of laser therapy with conventional treatment returned these parameters close to normal.

RESUMEN

The changes in the levels of diene conjugates, Schiff bases and malonic dialdehyde were followed up in red blood cells and plasma of 178 acute pneumonia (AP), diabetes mellitus (DM) and AP+DM patients. The findings for AP and AP+DM were compared to acute-phase indices of the inflammation and clinical pattern. The blood of the patients was endovascularly exposed to low-energy He-Ne laser irradiation. The resultant trends in LPO were recorded. It is concluded that by changes in the concentrations of diene conjugates, Schiff bases and malonic dialdehyde one can judge on the course of the above diseases and evaluate efficacy of on-going treatments, eg. He-Ne laser, antioxidants.

RESUMEN

As many as 68 patients suffering from chronic bronchitis (CB) were subjected to combined treatment by new mixtures of medicinal herbs given per os and by inhalation. Administration of the first (antiseptic) or the second (broncholytic) mixture was determined by the clinical variant of CB. In 81% of cases, the method produced a beneficial effect, contributing to the shortening of the times of the patients' treatment in the hospital. The long-term results were also positive, allowing the simultaneous use of the phytotherapeutic mixtures per os and by inhalation in the treatment of CB patients.

RESUMEN

The activity of primary and secondary products of lipid peroxidation and antiperoxide protection enzymes was investigated in 33 patients with diabetes mellitus, complicated by lower limb angiopathies before and after endovascular laser irradiation of blood. Tissue microcirculation was evaluated on the basis of the results of capillaroscopy and thermography of the limbs, and biomicroscopy of the conjunctiva. Blood was irradiated with the help of a light guide for 60 min. Laser therapy led to a decrease in the activity of processes of free radical oxidation, acting probably on antiperoxide protection enzymes. Tissue microcirculation was markedly improved.

RESUMEN

The efficacy of biological feedback was studied in multimodality treatment of patients suffering from bronchial asthma. Use was made of a device modified by the authors themselves. In that device, the system of the patient's respiration control was synchronized with the block of diaphragmatic pacing. The method was shown to be highly effective. The clinical status of the patients improved. The changes in the capnographic parameters attest to a decrease of hyperventilation in patients suffering from bronchial asthma.

RESUMEN

The treatment scheme of 540 patients with acute pneumonia and chronic bronchitis involved a 0.5 g ftivazid three times a day for 15-20 days. Compared with control groups of patients on the standard therapy, the drug presents a more advantageous treatment. Adequate efficacy and tolerance of the drug ftivazid make it appropriate for use in acute pneumonia and chronic bronchitis.

RESUMEN

The principal methods of the treatment of the hyperventilation syndrome (HVS) are reviewed. The following methods of the action on the patient are distinguished: psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy, remedial gymnastics, correction of respiratory disorders according to the principle of the biological feed-back mechanism, recurrent respiration or carbon dioxide inhalations. Emphasis is laid on the importance of an individual approach to the institution of the treatment measures. The relationship between the HVS and respiratory diseases is discussed. The authors advance an opinion that every patient may note improvement after receiving a properly selected complex of the treatment measures.

RESUMEN

A review of literature comprises the main data on etiological factors, pathogenetic mechanisms, clinical peculiarities and methods of diagnosis of the hyperventilation syndrome. Physicians' insufficient knowledge of this disease is emphasized. Various clinical manifestations are based on the same pathogenetic mechanisms of acute or chronic respiratory disregulation resulting in hypocapnia, a rise of vascular tone, and electrolytic disorders. Of great practical importance is the use of a unified clinical classification, of which a variant is proposed by the authors. The main therapeutic modalities are: 1) psychotherapy, 2) pharmacotherapy, 3) exercise therapy.
