RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: The World Health Organisation (WHO) calls on stakeholders to give Higher Education a key educational importance for the future of Europe. Within the content of the training programmes at university, sexuality emerges as a relevant topic in the nursing degree, to promote integral health from a holistic perspective. However, research on the presence of sexuality at the curricular level in Higher Education suggests that it is incomplete and underdeveloped. METHODS: This is a protocol for a long-term, multi-centre, exploratory, descriptive, and cross-sectional study with a quantitative and qualitative approach lasting two years. The research will be carried out in the educational community, including, on the one hand, students, and professors and health professionals of nursing programmes from five universities in different parts of the world (Portugal, Spain, Italy, and the United States), and on the other hand, women, young people, and immigrants from these communities. The study will have several target populations. Firstly, the target is nursing students, with whom the aim is to define their perspective on the sexuality content taught at the university, and their level of knowledge. Secondly university professors and health professionals, with whom we will check their perspective on sexuality in the classroom, as well as their level of knowledge in this field. And finally, we will work with the community (women, young people, and immigrants) to whom we will try to bring sexuality from a useful and enjoyable perspective. In order to measure these variables in the protocol, instruments such as questionnaires and semi-structured interviews will be used. During data collection, ethical principles will be guaranteed and informed consent will be requested from the participants. DISCUSSION: The results of the research will have a high curricular impact on the educational community, and will last over time, since the tools generated in the project will be included as part of nursing training programmes. In addition, participation in the project will improve health education for health professionals and at the community level on sexuality in both urban and rural populations.

RESUMEN

The 1 : 2 and 1 : 1 Co(ii) complexes of the L ligand (L = 6-(3,5-diamino-2,4,6-triazinyl)2,2'-bipyridine) with formulas [CoII(L)2](ClO4)2·0.5MeCN·Et2O (1) and [CoII(L)(CH3CN)2(H2O)](ClO4)2·MeCN (2) have been prepared. The structural and magnetic characterization of the two compounds shows that they contain octahedral high-spin Co(ii) and present a field-induced slow relaxation of the magnetization. 1 has been inserted into a bimetallic oxalate-based network leading to a novel achiral 3D compound of formula [CoII(L)2][MnIICrIII(ox)3]2·(solvate) (3) exhibiting ferromagnetic ordering below 4.6 K. EPR measurements suggest a weak magnetic coupling between the two sublattices.

RESUMEN

Cytochrome b 5 reductase (Cb 5R) and cytochrome b 5 (Cb 5) form an enzymatic redox system that plays many roles in mammalian cells. In the last 15 years, it has been proposed that this system is involved in the recycling of ascorbate, a vital antioxidant molecule in the brain and that its deregulation can lead to the production of reactive oxygen species that play a major role in oxidative-induced neuronal death. In this work, we have performed a regional and cellular distribution study of the expression of this redox system in adult rat brain by anti-Cb 5R isoform 3 and anti-Cb 5 antibodies. We found high expression levels in cerebellar cortex, labeling heavily granule neurons and Purkinje cells, and in structures such as the fastigial, interposed and dentate cerebellar nuclei. A large part of Cb 5R isoform 3 in the cerebellum cortex was regionalized in close proximity to the lipid raft-like nanodomains, labeled with cholera toxin B, as we have shown by fluorescence resonance energy transfer imaging. In addition, vestibular, reticular and motor nuclei located at the brain stem level and pyramidal neurons of somatomotor areas of the brain cortex and of the hippocampus have been also found to display high expression levels of these proteins. All these results point out the enrichment of Cb 5R isoform 3/Cb 5 system in neuronal cells and structures of the cerebellum and brain stem whose functional impairment can account for neurological deficits reported in type II congenital methemoglobinemia, as well as in brain areas highly prone to undergo oxidative stress-induced neurodegeneration.

RESUMEN

Fundamento.

Background. To evaluate the Sentinel Surveillance Program in Occupational Health in Navarre for the 1998-2007 period, identify factors that facilitate its implementation and describe the socioeconomic characteristics of the notified cases. Method. An analysis was made of all occupational sentinel events reported by primary care between 1998 and 2005. All of these were followed through to 2007. Results. In the whole period 2,055 cases were notified; 1,223 with personal identifications and 832 without (59.5% and 40.5%). These included 1,192 elbow tendinitis, 354 carpal tunnel and 417 dermatitis cases. This represents an incidence rate of 332.8 per 100,000 workers in 2005. Only 21% took sick leave and 10.5% had come to primary care after being refused attention by occupational medical insurers. The positive predictive value was 70% (confirmed as occupational). 41% of those work-related diseases were officially notified, 51% received official notification first and there maining 49% received notification after being seen by a doctor in the public health system. Conclusions. The Sentinel Surveillance Program in Occupational Health in Navarra is a good experience in obtaining an information system that connects the public health system and the occupational compensation system in Spain, but it requires close monitoring and coordination (AU)

RESUMEN

The process of economic and social change that Navarra has undergone in recent decades has been associated with the arrival of a growing flow of immigrants since the start of the new century. They have had a decisive influence as a factor of economic change in terms of production increase and internal demand. A new Navarra is being built thanks to the phenomenon of migration. In the first place, we analyse their impact on demographic growth. Their influence on the labour market, with its highlights and shadows, is evaluated. Foreigners already are about 10% of the active population and their presence in some productive sectors is decisive for their viability. The dysfunctions and problems of the labour market are reviewed, especially the question of accidents. Finally, the behaviour of the indicators of temporary disability of this collective are set out. Although this phenomenon has brought an imbalance in some spheres of social policy (education, housing, health), it can be said that the model of integration in Navarra is based on a generous welfare system, a social climate that is in general tolerant, and sustained economic growth.
