RESUMEN
As many as 33 women who received combined treatment (fully successful) at an age of 5-26 years for lymphogranulomatosis were examined. In 30 patients, the structure and function of the reproductive organs was within age norm. In 20 women, there were 20 deliveries at an age of 19-33 years, with the mean age amounting to 23 years; 10 boys and 10 girls were born. The children are healthy. The selective toxicity of the treatment as a whole and of each of its components with regard to the reproductive organs was not proved. In the authors' opinion, two cases of disease relapses in pregnant women do not form basis for recommending the woman do refrain from pregnancy in the long-term periods after the treatment of lymphogranulomatosis.

Ultrasonic scanning of 315 pregnant patients with infectious inflammatory diseases and 200 healthy pregnant women has demonstrated the echographic markers of intrauterine fetal infection: hydramnios, the presence of meconium in amniotic fluid, untimely maturation and signs of infectious involvement of the fetus, increased size of fetal abdomen as against the reference values after 35 weeks gestation. Twenty-six of the 37 mothers of the newborns with pyoseptic diseases had presented with at least three of these signs. Ultrasonic scanning is recommended for antenatal diagnosis of intrauterine infection as an objective method.

A total of 511 females with multiple pregnancy (486 with twins and 25 with triplets) were examined for the nature of fetal development, and management of pregnancy, labor and postpartum period. An early diagnosis was found to play a decisive role in the implementation of therapeutical and preventive measures. A classification of the prenatal development of monozygotic twins was presented. It was shown that the optimal management of pregnancy in multiple-pregnant females was effective in relation to the time of employing the basic components of the program. It was demonstrated that the active management of labour was important in multiple pregnancy; the results of clinical trials of this procedure were also provided. In terms of the risk for perinatal morbidity and mortality, three groups were identified, these may include females with multiple pregnancy. Implementing the proposed treatment-and-prevention measures showed that perinatal morbidity and mortality rates in multiple pregnancy might be substantially reduced.

A sonographic and morphological study of placentas in 307 pregnant women has yielded histological criteria for sonographic staging of the placenta. In addition, sonographic estimates of uteroplacental and placental circulation were obtained. Simplicity and informativeness of these criteria make them recommendable for extensive use in practical health care.

Prenatal ultrasonographic diagnosis in 267 pregnant women, examination of their newborns and ultrasonographic/morphological comparison of the placenta have demonstrated the value of placenta staging in the prediction of fetal and neonatal outcomes with reference to the gestational age and morphological maturity of the villous placenta. The simplicity and predictive value of these criteria make them recommendable for routine use in practical medical care.

Based on the morphological and clinical investigations, the authors defined various placental structures of 68 females with multiple pregnancies. The correlation between the structure of the placenta and the type of the prenatal development of the fetuses was established.

The prenatal diagnosis of mannosidosis was carried out in one at-risk fetus by the analysis of chorionic villi obtained after 9 weeks of pregnancy. The diagnosis was based on the absence of acid alpha-mannosidase activity as determined by specific enzyme assay. The activity of two other lysosomal hydrolases (beta-galactosidase and beta-hexosaminidase) in chorion biopsy specimen was similar to the control values. The enzymatic diagnosis was confirmed after studies of fetal tissue.

The paper is concerned with the results of the clinical testing of a combined method of assessment of the greater and uteroplacental circulation in 15 women with plural pregnancy. The method permits the detection of hemodynamic changes without increasing radiation exposure to the mother's body and fetuses, the determination of a type of plural pregnancy (monochorionic or dichorial twins), and the prediction of pregnancy outcome that is very important for the choice of appropriate and timely therapy.
