RESUMEN

A female patient with atopic dermatitis who had recently received a tattoo presented with severe right ear pain and several vesiculopustular lesions. Over 1 week, she developed approximately 80 widely distributed lesions. Laboratory testing confirmed mpox (previously monkeypox) virus, and no further lesions developed after initiation of oral tecovirimat.

RESUMEN

Dermatologic manifestations can be the initial signs of a systemic disease, and a thorough investigation may be warranted to rule out a life-altering diagnosis. We present a case of an 11-year-old boy with a concurrent presentation of eruptive syringomas and juxtaclavicular beaded lines on his neck. While a biopsy confirmed the benign diagnosis, the initial presentation led to a concerning differential including pseudoxanthoma elasticum and warranted a complete investigation.

RESUMEN

Mycobacterium chelonae can be difficult to treat because of inherent resistance to many available antimicrobials. We present a case of a multidrug-resistant M. chelonae skin infection in a 52-year-old woman who presented with a 3- to 4-week history of painful, erythematous nodules on the bilateral lower extremities. She demonstrated dramatic improvement at her 4-week follow-up on omadacycline.

RESUMEN

Diffuse dermal angiomatosis is a rare, benign, reactive cutaneous vascular disorder considered to be a distinct variant of reactive angioendotheliomatosis. The disease typically presents in obese patients who smoke and have atherosclerotic risk factors, vasculopathies, or other comorbidities associated with hypoxemia. We present a case of a 40-year-old woman with ulcerated plaques on her abdomen consistent with diffuse dermal angiomatosis on histopathological evaluation. Unique to our patient was localization of the lesions to the abdominal striae.

RESUMEN

Erythema multiforme is an acute hypersensitivity eruption with sharply demarcated papules and plaques. It has many known causes, from herpes simplex virus and drugs to malignancy and environmental factors. Although other herbicides have been linked to erythema multiforme, no previous reports have described a link with atrazine. We present a 24-year-old man with difficulty breathing, bilateral eye pain with redness, and a diffuse rash consistent with erythema multiforme following occupational exposure to atrazine.
