RESUMEN

Biochar-supported ZVI have received increasing attention for their potential to remove nitrobenzene in groundwater and soil. However, the capacity of this material to enhance the biological reduction of nitrobenzene and alter microbial communities in anaerobic groundwater have not been explored. In this study, the nitrobenzene removal performance and mechanism of modified biochar-supported zerovalent iron (ZVI) composites were explored in anaerobic soil. The results showed that the 700 °C biochar composite enhanced the removal of nitrobenzene and inhibited its release from soil to the aqueous phase. NaOH-700-Fe50 had the highest removal rate of nitrobenzene, reaching 64.4%. However, the 300 °C biochar composite inhibited the removal of nitrobenzene. Microbial degradation rather than ZVI-mediated reduction was the main nitrobenzene removal pathway. The biochar composites changed the richness and diversity of microbial communities. ZVI enhanced the symbiotic relationship between microbial genera and weakened competition between soil microbial genera. In summary, the 700 °C modified biochar composite enhanced the removal of nitrobenzene by increasing microbial community richness and diversity, by upregulating functional genes, and by promoting electron transfer. Overall, the modified biochar-supported ZVI composites could be used for soil remediation, and NaOH-700-Fe50 is a promising composite material for the on-site remediation of nitrobenzene-contaminated groundwater.

Objective: This study aims to examine the nutritional status of individuals diagnosed with esophageal cancer and compare the nutritional indicators and intestinal flora between malnourished and non-malnourished patients. The findings aim to contribute to the early prevention of malnutrition and the development of interventions targeting the intestinal flora to treat esophageal cancer. Methods: An 80-patient sample of hospitalized individuals with esophageal cancer was selected from the radiotherapy department of our hospital between July 2021 and July 2022 to evaluate NRS2002 scores and PG-SGA scores. This cross-sectional analysis aimed to examine the disparities in dietary nutrient intake, blood indicators, body composition, and fecal intestinal flora between malnourished and non-malnourished patients with esophageal cancer. Additionally, we randomly selected 40 cases to predict and analyze the relationship between intestinal flora and malnutrition. Results: The incidence of nutritional risk and malnutrition in patients with esophageal cancer was 62.5% and 60%, respectively. The low intake of carbohydrates and dietary fiber in the malnutrition group was statistically significant compared to those in the non-malnutrition group (P < 0.05). The albumin (ALB) level was lower in the malnutrition group than in the non-malnutrition group, while the C-reactive protein (CRP) level was higher; these differences were also statistically significant (P < 0.05). The basal metabolic rate, phase angle, body cell mass, muscle mass, skeletal muscle index, and fat-free mass index in the malnutrition group all decreased compared to the non-malnutrition group. The extracellular water/total body water was higher than that in the non-malnutrition group, which was also statistically significant (P < 0.05). As shown by 16S rDNA sequencing of fecal intestinal flora, there was no significant difference in α and ß diversity between the malnutrition and non-malnutrition groups; at the genus level, significant differences were observed for Selimonas, Clostridioides, Dielma, Lactobacillus, and [Eubacterium]_siraeum_group. However, Dielma, Sellimonas, and Clostridioides were significantly lower in the malnutrition group than in the non-malnutrition group, while Anaerococcus, Atopobium, Eubacterium_siraeum_group, and Lactobacillus were significantly higher in the malnutrition group. Correlation analysis between different genera and clinical indicators showed that Lactobacillus was positively correlated with ALB, dietary energy, intracellular water/total body water (ICW/TBW), phase angle (PA), muscle mass (MM), skeletal muscle mass (SMM), body cell mass (BCM), basal metabolic rate (BMR), appendicular skeletal muscle mass (ASMM), total body water (TBW), fat-free mass index (FFMI), skeletal muscle index (SMI), fat-free mass (FFM), Weight, body mass index (BMI) (r > 0, P < 0.05), but negatively correlated with PG-SGA score, NRS2002 score, and extracellular water/total body water (ECW/TBW) (r < 0, P < 0.05). Based on PG-SGA, there was only a low accuracy for identifying nutrient deficiency (most areas under curve (AUC) values fell within 0.5 to 0.7, or even lower), with Lachnoclostridium's AUC being 0.688 (CI = 0.518-0.858) and Lactobacillus_salivarius_g_Lactobacillus's AUC being 0.257 (CI = 0.098-0.416). A KEGG functional analysis based on 16S data indicated potential differences affecting glucose metabolism pathways and the synthesis or division of DNA, influencing the onset, development, and prognosis of esophageal cancer patients. Conclusion: Esophageal cancer patients are more likely to be malnourished. The nutritional status of these patients is closely linked to the intake of carbohydrates and fiber, albumin levels, inflammation levels, and lean body mass. Furthermore, the patient's intestinal flora composition plays a significant role in their nutritional well-being. Consequently, modulating the intestinal flora holds promise as a potential therapeutic approach for addressing malnutrition in esophageal cancer patients. This study first draws inspiration from the dual biomimetic design of plant cell walls and honeycomb structures, drawing on their structural characteristics to design a flexible shell structure that can achieve significant deformation and withstand large loads. Based on the staggered bonding of this flexible shell structure, we propose a new design scheme for a large-load pneumatic soft arm and establish a mathematical model for its flexibility and load capacity. The extension and bending deformation of this new type of soft arm come from the geometric variability of flexible shell structures, which can be controlled through two switches, namely, deflation and inflation, to achieve extension or bending actions. The experimental results show that under a driving pressure within the range of 150 kpa, the maximum elongation of the soft arm reaches 23.17 cm, the maximum bending angle is 94.2 degrees, and the maximum load is 2.83 N. This type of soft arm designed based on dual bionic inspiration can have both a high load capacity and flexibility. The research results provide new ideas and methods for the development of high-load soft arms, which are expected to expand from laboratories to multiple fields.

Human activities and climate change have resulted in frequent and intense weather fluctuations, leading to diverse abiotic stresses on crops which hampers greatly their metabolic activities. Heat stress, a prevalent abiotic factor, significantly influences cotton plant biological activities resulting in reducing yield and production. We must deepen our understanding of how plants respond to heat stress across various dimensions, encompassing genes, RNAs, proteins, metabolites for effective cotton breeding. Multi-omics methods, primarily genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and phenomics, proves instrumental in studying cotton's responses to abiotic stresses. Integrating genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomic is imperative for our better understanding regarding genetics and molecular basis of heat tolerance in cotton. The current review explores fundamental omics techniques, covering genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics, to highlight the progress made in cotton omics research.

Herein a series of size-selected TaN(N = 147, 309, 561, 923, 1415, 2057, 6525, 10 000, 20 000) clusters are generated using a gas-phase condensation cluster beam source equipped with a lateral time-of-flight mass-selector. Aberration-corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy (AC-STEM) imaging reveals good thermal stability of TaNclusters in this study. The oxidation-induced amorphization is observed from AC-STEM imaging and further demonstrated through x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and energy-dispersive spectroscopy. The oxidized Ta predominantly exists in the +5 oxidation state and the maximum spontaneous oxidation depth of the Ta cluster is observed to be 5 nm under prolonged atmosphere exposure. Furthermore, the size-dependent sintering and crystallization processes of oxidized TaNclusters are observed with anin situheating technique, and eventually, ordered structures are restored. As the temperature reaches 1300 °C, a fraction of oxidized Ta309clusters exhibit decahedral and icosahedral structures. However, the five-fold symmetry structures are absent in larger clusters, instead, these clusters exhibit ordered structures resembling those of the crystalline Ta2O5films. Notably, the sintering and crystallization process occurs at temperatures significantly lower than the melting point of Ta and Ta2O5, and the ordered structures resulting from annealing remain well-preserved after six months of exposure to ambient conditions.

BACKGROUND: Mitotic clonal expansion (MCE) is a prerequisite for preadipocyte differentiation and adipogenesis. Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) has been shown to inhibit preadipocyte differentiation. However, the exact molecular mechanisms are still elusive. PURPOSE: This study investigated whether EGCG could inhibit adipogenesis and lipid accumulation by regulating the cell cycle in the MCE phase of adipogenesis and its underlying molecular mechanisms. METHOD: 3T3-L1 preadipocytes were induced to differentiate by a differentiation cocktail (DMI) and were treated with EGCG (25-100 µM) for 9, 18, and 24 h to examine the effect on MCE, or eight days to examine the effect on terminal differentiation. C57BL/6 mice were fed a high-fat diet (HFD) for three months to induce obesity and were given EGCG (50 or 100 mg/kg) daily by gavage. RESULTS: We showed that EGCG significantly inhibited terminal adipogenesis and lipid accumulation in 3T3-L1 cells and decreased expressions of PPARγ, C/EBPα, and FASN. Notably, at the MCE phase, EGCG regulated the cell cycle in sequential order, induced G0/G1 arrest at 18 h, and inhibited the G2/M phase at 24 h upon DMI treatment. Meanwhile, EGCG regulated the expressions of cell cycle regulators (cyclin D1, cyclin E1, CDK4, CDK6, cyclin B1, cyclin B2, p16, and p27), and decreased C/EBPß, PPARγ, and C/EBPα expressions at MCE. Mechanistic studies using STAT3 agonist Colivelin and antagonist C188-9 revealed that EGCG-induced cell cycle arrest in the MCE phase and terminal adipocyte differentiation was mediated by the inhibition of JAK2/STAT3 signaling cascades and STAT3 (Tyr705) nuclear translocation. Furthermore, EGCG significantly protected mice from HFD-induced obesity, reduced body weight and lipid accumulations in adipose tissues, reduced hyperlipidemia and leptin levels, and improved glucose intolerance and insulin sensitivity. Moreover, RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) analysis showed that the cell cycle changes in epididymal white adipose tissue (eWAT) were significantly enriched upon EGCG treatment. We further verified that EGCG treatment significantly reduced expressions of adipogenic factors, cell cycle regulators, and p-STAT3 in eWAT. CONCLUSION: EGCG inhibits MCE, resulting in the inhibition of early and terminal adipocyte differentiation and lipid accumulation, which were mediated by inhibiting p-STAT3 nucleus translocation and activation.

INTRODUCTION: With nicotine dependence being a significant healthcare issue worldwide there is a growing interest in developing novel therapies and diagnostic aids to assist in treating nicotine addiction. Glutamate (Glu) plays an important role in cognitive function regulation in a wide range of conditions including traumatic brain injury, aging, and addiction. Chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST) imaging via ultra-high field MRI can image the exchange of certain saturated labile protons with the surrounding bulk water pool, making the technique a novel tool to investigate glutamate in the context of addiction. The aim of this work was to apply glutamate weighted CEST (GluCEST) imaging to study the dorsal anterior cingulate cortex (dACC) in a small population of smokers and non-smokers to determine its effectiveness as a biomarker of nicotine use. METHODS: 2D GluCEST images were acquired on 20 healthy participants: 10 smokers (ages 29-50) and 10 non-smokers (ages 25-69), using a 7T MRI system. T1-weighted images were used to segment the GluCEST images into white and gray matter tissue and further into seven gray matter regions. Wilcoxon rank-sum tests were performed, comparing mean GluCEST contrast between smokers and non-smokers across brain regions. RESULTS: GluCEST levels were similar between smokers and non-smokers; however, there was a moderate negative age dependence (R2 = 0.531) in smokers within the cingulate gyrus. CONCLUSION: Feasibility of GluCEST imaging was demonstrated for in vivo investigation of smokers and non-smokers to assess glutamate contrast differences as a potential biomarker with a moderate negative age correlation in the cingulate gyrus suggesting reward network involvement.

OBJECTIVE@#To explore the genetic basis of two children with unexplained psychomotor developmental delay and facial dysmorphisms suggestive of Coffin-Siris syndrome (CSS).@*METHODS@#A boy and a girl suspected for CSS at the 980th Hospital of the People's Liberation Army Joint Service Support Force respectively in July 2019 and January 2021, and seven members from their families, were selected as the study subjects. Clinical data and family history of the children were collected, and detailed physical examination was carried out, in addition with laboratory and related auxiliary examinations. Potential variants and copy number variations (CNVs) were detected by whole exome sequencing (WES) and copy number variation sequencing (CNV-seq).@*RESULTS@#Child 1, an 8-month-old female, had featured microcephaly, atrial septal defect, curving of fifth finger/toe, and low limb muscle tone. Child 2 was a 2.5-year-old male with language delay, social impairment, dense hair but no curving of the fifth fingers. Genetic testing revealed that child 1 had loss of heterozygosity for exons 8 to 21 of the ARID1B gene, which was unreported previously. Family verification showed that both of her parents were of the wild type. Based on the guidelines from the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG) and American Society of Molecular Pathology (AMP), the variant was rated as pathogenic (PVS1+PS2+PM2-supporting). Child 2 was found to harbor a heterozygous c.4263-6 (IVS17) T>G variant of the ARID1B gene. Transcriptome sequencing confirmed that the variant can affect the normal splicing, resulting in retention of a 5 bp sequence in intron 17. Family verification showed that both of his parents were of the wild type. Based on the guidelines from the ACMG, the variant was rated as pathogenic (PS2+PM2-supporting+PP3+PS3).@*CONCLUSION@#WES and RNA-seq have confirmed the diagnosis of CSS in both children. Discovery of the novel variants has expanded the spectrum of pathogenic mutations underlying CSS, and provided a basis for the genetic counseling.

Objective To explore the current situation of evidence-based nursing practice in pain assess-ment by nurses in China to provide the decision-making data for maximizing to relieve the patient pain by car-rying out the pain assessment evidence-based nursing practice.Methods The non-probability sampling meth-od was used to conduct an online anonymous survey in 63 class 3A hospitals in the whole country.The ques-tionnaire included the general information questionnaire and evidence-based nursing practice scale for pain as-sessment.The evidence-based nursing practice scale for pain assessment included the pain screening,compre-hensive pain assessment,exchange with the patients and their households in the pain assessment,pain re-as-sessment,pain assessment tool selection and record.The 5 dimensions were compared by using item equaliza-tion.The data analysis was performed by the SPSS26.0.Results A total of 1 518 questionnaires were recov-ered,in which 1 482 questionnaires were valid with an effective recovery rate of 97.62%.The evidence-based nurse practice of pain assessment by nurse was(108.40±17.96)points,the pain screening was(12.87±2.23)points,the item average score was the highest[(4.29±0.74)points],the communication with the patients and their household was(23.69±4.93)points and the item average score was the lowest[(3.94±0.82)points].The regression analysis showed that whether receiving the pain training and whether distinguishing active pain and resting pain had a positive effect on the practical behavior(P<0.05).Conclusion The evi-dence-based nursing practice in pain assessment by nurses in the partial class 3A hospitals in China is in the upper medium level.However,the communication between the patients and their families is insufficient.Man-agers should constantly enrich the training content and methods,and guide nurses to strengthen the communi-cation between nurses and the patients.

Objective To investigate the value of human papillomavirus(HPV)DNA and HPV E6/E7 mRNA detection in screening for cervical lesions.Methods A total of 619 patients who were screened for cer-vical lesions in West China Second University Hospital from September 2021 to August 2022 were selected as the study objects.The value of HPV DNA and HPV E6/E7 mRNA detection in cervical lesion screening was evaluated based on their pathological results.Results The positive rate of HPV DNA detection was 64.78%(401/619)and that of HPV E6/E7 mRNA detection was 60.74%(376/619)in 619 patients.Cervical lesion screening was mainly conducted in sexually active people aged 30-<40 years and 40-<50 years.The posi-tive rates of HPV DNA and HPV E6/E7 mRNA increased with the increase of cervical lesion grade.The sen-sitivity,positive predictive value and negative predictive value of the two methods were higher than those of HPV DNA or HPV E6/E7 mRNA detection.Conclusion The combined detection of the two methods can be used for screening cervical lesions at various pathological stages,which can provide greater guidance value in clinical diagnosis and treatment.

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of withdrawal therapy based on regulating nutritive qi and defensive qi(shortened to Tiaohe Yingwei method)in treating sedative-hypnotic dependent insomnia of disharmony between nutritive qi and defensive qi type.Methods Ninety patients with sedative-hypnotic dependent insomnia of disharmony between nutritive qi and defensive qi type were randomly divided into the treatment group and the control group,with 45 patients in each group.The control group was given oral use of Estazolam by 25%of weekly dose-reduction,while the treatment group was treated with Chinese medicinal decoction of Tiaohe Yingwei Zhumian Prescription based on Tiaohe Yingwei method together with Estazolam.The treatment course for the two groups lasted for 4 weeks.The changes of Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)scores,total TCM syndrome scores,and Drug-withdrawal Syndrome Scale(DWSS)scores in the two groups were observed before and after treatment.After treatment,the efficacy for improving sleep efficiency value(IUSEV)and clinical safety in the two groups were evaluated.Results(1)During the trial,2 cases fell off in the treatment group,and 43 cases included in the statistics;3 cases fell off in the control group,and 42 cases included in the statistics.(2)After 4 weeks of treatment,the total effective rate for improving IUSEV of the treatment group was 88.37%(38/43),and that of the control group was 61.90%(26/42).The intergroup comparison by non-parametric rank-sum test showed that the efficacy for improving IUSEV in the treatment group was significantly superior to that in the control group(P<0.05).(3)After treatment,obvious reduction was shown in the overall PSQI scores and the scores of the items of sleep quality,time for falling asleep,sleep time,sleep efficiency,sleep disorder and daytime dysfunction in the two groups when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05).The intergroup comparison showed that except for the items of sleep disorder and daytime dysfunction,the treatment group had stronger effect on decreasing the scores of the remaining items and the overall PSQI scores than the control group(P<0.05).(4)After treatment,the total scores of TCM syndromes of both groups were significantly decreased compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the decrease of the total scores of TCM syndrome in the treatment group was significantly superior to that in the control group(P<0.05).(5)After treatment,the total DWSS scores of the two groups were significantly decreased compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the effect on lowering the scores in the treatment group was significantly superior to that in the control group(P<0.05).(6)During the course of treatment,no significant adverse reactions occurred in the two groups,or no abnormal changes were found in the safety indexes such as routine test of blood,urine and stool,liver and kidney function,and electrocardiogram of the patients.Conclusion Withdrawal therapy based on Tiaohe Yingwei method exerts certain effect for the treatment of sedative-hypnotic dependent insomnia of disharmony between nutritive qi and defensive qi type.The therapy is effective on improving the quality of sleep and reducing the incidence of drug-withdrawal syndrome,and has a high safety.

Objective:To investigate the diagnostic value of an intelligent assisted grading algorithm for nuclear cataract using anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) images.Methods:A diagnostic test study was conducted.AS-OCT image data were collected from 939 cases of 1 608 eyes of nuclear cataract patients at the Shanghai Tenth People's Hospital of Tongji University from November 2020 to September 2021.The data were obtained from the electronic case system and met the requirements for clinical reading clarity.Among them, there were 398 cases of 664 male eyes and 541 cases of 944 female eyes.The ages of the patients ranged from 18 to 94 years, with a mean age of (65.7±18.6) years.The AS-OCT images were labelled manually from one to six levels according to the Lens Opacities Classification System Ⅲ (LOCS Ⅲ grading system) by three experienced clinicians.This study proposed a global-local cataract grading algorithm based on multi-level ranking, which contains five basic binary classification global local network (GL-Net).Each GL-Net aggregates multi-scale information, including the cataract nucleus region and original image, for nuclear cataract grading.Based on ablation test and model comparison test, the model's performance was evaluated using accuracy, precision, sensitivity, F1 and Kappa, and all results were cross-validated by five-fold.This study adhered to the Declaration of Helsinjki and was approrved by Shanghai Tenth People's Hospital of Tongji University (No.21K216).Results:The model achieved the results with an accuracy of 87.81%, precision of 88.88%, sensitivity of 88.33%, F1 of 88.51%, and Kappa of 85.22% on the cataract dataset.The ablation experiments demonstrated that ResNet18 combining local and global features for multi-level ranking classification improved the accuracy, recall, specificity, F1, and Kappa metrics.Compared with ResNet34, VGG16, Ranking-CNN, MRF-Net models, the performance index of this model were improved.Conclusions:The deep learning-based AS-OCT nuclear cataract image multi-level ranking classification algorithm demonstrates high accuracy in grading cataracts.This algorithm may help ophthalmologists in improving the diagnostic accuracy and efficiency of nuclear cataract.

Objective To investigate the correlation of triglyceride glucose product index(TyG index)with the diagnosis of coronary heart disease(CHD)and the severity of coronary stenosis.Methods A total of 404 patients who received coronary angiography for the first time in Xinhua Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine with unexplained chest pain from December 2021 to October 2022 were included.All subjects were divided into CHD group(n=216)and non-CHD group(n=188).General clin-ical data,laboratory information and coronary angiography results of all participants were collected.The CHD group(n=123)and the non-CHD group(n=123)were obtained after the propensity score matching(PSM).Patients in CHD group were further divided into low Gensini score(Gensini score<35,n=59)group and high Gensini score(Gensini score ≥ 35,n=64)group according to the me-dian Gensini score.The differences among groups were compared and the relation between TyG index and the severity of coronary artery stenosis was analyzed.Then the predictive value of TyG index for CHD and the severity of coronary lesion was evaluated by Logistic regres-sion and receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve.Results After PSM,the differences in TyG index,TG,FPG,HDL-C in CHD group were statistically significant compared with the non-CHD group(P<0.05).Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that the TyG index was an independent risk factor for CHD.Spearman correlation analysis showed that the TyG index was positively correlated with the Gensini score(r=0.618,P<0.001).The ROC curve analysis showed that the area under the curve(AUC)of the TyG index predicting a high Gensini score was 0.873(95%CI:0.802-0.943,P<0.001).A cut-off value was 7.08,and the sensitivity and specificity were 95.2%and 67.3%,respectively.Conclusion TyG index can be used as an independent risk factor for CHD,and has certain predictive value for the severity of coronary stenosis.

RESUMEN

Objective:To investigate the health status and needs of the occupational population in an industrial park in Shanghai, and to explore the causes.Methods:The study was a mixed method study. First, a list of health needs of the occupational population was developed through literature review. Then, a questionnaire was prepared on the basis of the list of health needs of the occupational population, which consisted of 4 parts: basic personal information, health status, medical care, and health needs. From September 16 to October 9, 2022, 3 enterprises of representative size and industry in Shanghai Xinzhuang Industrial Park were selected by convenience sampling method, and the target sample size was allocated in equal proportions according to the total number of employees, and the Quick Response code of the electronic questionnaire was distributed (Questionnaire Star). Finally, an interview outline was created based on the results of the questionnaire survey to gain a deeper understanding of the connotations and reasons for the health needs of employees, etc. The interviews were conducted from October 15 to 22, 2022.Results:A total of 819 enterprise employees were surveyed, of whom 580 (70.82%) were male, and their age was mainly concentrated in the 19-44 age group (621(75.82%)). Among them, 348 (42.49%) were overweight or obese, 388 (47.37%) had regular medical check-ups, and only 224 (27.35%) had active health interventions. The top 5 health needs of the surveyed population were relief of visual fatigue (365(44.57%)), improvement of sleep (355(43.35%)), relief of physical fatigue (343(41.88%)), oral health (333(40.66%)), and immunity enhancement (332(40.54%)). The interviewees were from 2 large enterprises, totaling 12 people. The results of the interviews showed that excessive use of mobile phones, high stress, interpersonal and social confusion, retaliatory late nights, sedentary lifestyles, and socializing were the main causes of health problems.Conclusions:The health status of the occupational population in Shanghai Xinzhuang Industrial Parks is not optimistic, and their health needs are obvious. Their health problems and needs are related to the characteristics of their work patterns.

Objective:To observe any effect of cooling on the amplitude of vibration-induced sensory nerve action potentials (SNAPs) in human digits.Methods:The middle fingers of 15 healthy adults were either cooled to about 22℃ using an ice pack or kept at about 32℃. A vibrator was applied to the joint connecting the middle finger and the palm vibrating with an amplitude of 2mm at a frequency of 60Hz. The amplitudes of middle finger SNAPs before, during and right after the vibration were recorded.Results:The SNAP amplitude at a given temperature was lower during vibration than before it, but it immediately returned to the pre-vibration level after the vibration ceased. The middle finger SNAP amplitudes at 22℃ were significantly higher than those at 32℃ throughout. The decrease in amplitude at 32℃ (61.7±15.1%) was significantly greater than that at 22℃ (24.1±7.0%).Conclusions:Cooling significantly reduces the effect of vibration on the amplitude of digital SNAPs. That suggests a way to protect the sensory nerves in hand-arm vibration syndrome.

RESUMEN

ObjectiveTo investigate the correlation of serum angiopoietin-1 (Ang-1), angiopoietin-2 (Ang-2), and Ang-1/Ang-2 ratio with HBA DNA and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) in patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB) or liver cirrhosis. MethodsClinical data and serum specimens were collected from 99 patients with CHB and 59 patients with liver cirrhosis who were admitted to Beijing YouAn Hospital, Capital Medical University, from March 2018 to October 2019, and 46 individuals who underwent physical examination were enrolled as control group. PCR was used to measure serum HBV DNA level, and ELISA was used to measure the serum levels of Ang-1 and Ang-2. The serum levels of Ang-1 and Ang-2 and Ang-1/Ang-2 ratio were compared between groups. The Kruskal-Wallis H test was used for comparison of non-normally distributed continuous data between multiple groups, and the Bonferroni method was used for further comparison between two groups; the Spearman correlation analysis was used to investigate the correlation of Ang-1, Ang-2, and Ang-1/Ang-2 ratio with HBV DNA and ALT. ResultsCompared with the control group, the CHB group and the liver cirrhosis group had a significant reduction in the level of Ang-1 (479.0 pg/mL and 208.4 pg/mL vs 671.0 pg/mL, both P<0.05), and compared with the CHB group, the liver cirrhosis group had a significant reduction in the level of Ang-1 (P<0.001). Compared with the control group, the CHB group and the liver cirrhosis group had a significant increase in the level of Ang-2 (286.1 pg/mL and 438.4 pg/mL vs 198.0 pg/mL, both P<0.001), and compared with the CHB group, the liver cirrhosis group had a significant increase in the level of Ang-2 (P<0.001). Compared with the control group, the CHB group and the liver cirrhosis group had a significant reduction in Ang-1/Ang-2 ratio (1.6 and 0.5 vs 3.4, both P<0.001), and compared with the CHB group, the liver cirrhosis group had a significant reduction in Ang-1/Ang-2 ratio (P<0.001). The Spearman correlation analysis showed that in the CHB group, Ang-1 was negatively correlated with HBV DNA and ALT (r=-0.400 and -0.394, both P˂0.001), Ang-2 was positively correlated with HBV DNA and ALT (r=0.365 and 0.351, both P<0.001), and Ang-1/Ang-2 ratio was negatively correlated with HBV DNA and ALT (r=-0.463 and -0.473, both P<0.001); in the liver cirrhosis group, Ang-1, Ang-2, and Ang-1/Ang-2 ratio had no correlation with HBV DNA or ALT (all P>0.05). ConclusionThere are significant changes in the serum levels of Ang-1 and Ang-2 and Ang-1/Ang-2 ratio in patients with CHB or liver cirrhosis, and Ang-1, Ang-2, and Ang-1/Ang-2 ratio reflects the degree of liver injury in patients with CHB to a certain extent.

Objective@#To examine the developmental trajectory of fine motor ability in schoolage children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) for two years, so as to provide scientific evidence to promote motor development in ADHD children.@*Methods@#From April to June 2019, 31 children aged 6-8 years old were selected from a public elementary school. They were diagnosed with ADHD by two psychiatric professionals according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-V) criteria. Additionally, 31 typical developmental children, matched for age, sex and IQ with the ADHD group, were recruited as the control group. Fine motor ability was assessed with tasks of hand manual dexterity in Movement Assessment Battery for Children-2 (MACB-2), and a followup assessment was conducted from April to June 2021. The development changes of fine motor ability between two groups of children were compared by using t test and repeated measures analysis of variance.@*Results@#Between baseline and followup periods after two years, the total score of hand fine motor in the ADHD group did not show significant improvement (7.4±3.0, 8.0±3.4; t=-1.05, P>0.05), while there was a small effect size improvement in typically developing control group (9.5±2.1, 10.5±2.4; t=-2.12, effect size=0.38, P<0.05). Followup after two years, coin/peg throwing scores with dominant hand improved between ADHD group and control group (7.0±3.3, 9.5±3.2; 8.4±2.8, 11.6±1.6) (t=-3.74, -6.33, P<0.01; effect size=0.67, 1.14), with a smaller improvement in the ADHD group. The score for threading beads/threads decreased in between ADHD group and control group (7.9±2.4, 5.8±3.1; 9.2±1.1, 8.2±1.9) (t=3.89, 2.78, P<0.01; effect size=0.70, 0.50), with a greater decrease in the ADHD group.@*Conclusions@#The development speed of fine motor ability in children with ADHD aged 6-8 is slow and continues to lag behind normal developmental children. Fine motor development in children with ADHD should be closely monitored, and targeted interventions should be implemented when necessary.

The safety, health, and rights and interests of research participants are the primary considerations in clinical research, and their rights and interests include the right of compensation, privacy protection, health and so on. Protecting the compensation rights of research participants is a necessary responsibility of the research-related departments and personnel. Based on laws and regulations and literature review, and combined with practical experience, this paper made an in-depth discussion on compensation rights. It puts forward the types of compensation (conventional compensation, research-related damage compensation), compensation principles (necessity, timeliness, appropriateness, fairness), compensation elements (method, amount, plan, consent, notification, and reference of compensation ), compensation under special circumstances (compensation for participants without or with limited informed consent ability and withdraw from the study midway), protection measures of compensation right (sponsor/contract research organizations, research institutions, research management departments, (main) researchers and research teams, ethics (review) committee). The compensation rights should be implemented to protect research participants.

OBJECTIVE To explore suitable storage and transportation conditions for “internet plus drug delivery” under high- temperature conditions. METHODS A survey on high-temperature conditions in summer in Beijing was conducted; a retrospective analysis was conducted on “internet plus drug delivery” orders in our hospital from July 2021 to June 2022, summarizing the proportion and delivery range of drugs under different storage and transportation conditions. Additionally, simulation and validation experiments were performed to investigate optimal drug storage and transportation devices for “internet plus drug delivery” in Beijing under high-temperature conditions in summer. RESULTS The monthly average temperature in Beijing from June to August consistently exceeded 25.0 ℃ between 1991 and 2022. From July 2021 to June 2022, a total of 104 drugs were required to be stored below 25.0 ℃, accounting for 31.23% of the 333 drugs listed in our hospital’s “internet plus drug delivery” catalog in Beijing. These drugs were delivered 1 058 times, accounting for 19.63% of the total deliveries. Simulation and validation experiments demonstrated that the average maximum temperature during the next-day delivery process of “carton + foam box + composite aluminum film pearl cotton + 500 g ice bag×2 + gas column bag” was 9.6 ℃, the average minimum temperature was 2.7 ℃, and all the temperatures remained below 15.0 ℃, which could effectively ensure the quality of drugs. CONCLUSIONS Under the high-temperature conditions in summer in Beijing, the storage and transportation device of “carton + foam box + composite aluminum film pearl cotton + 500 g ice bag×2 + gas column bag” can meet the temperature requirements specified in the drug storage instructions for Beijing intra-city drug delivery.
