RESUMEN

DESIGN: Case report. INTRODUCTION: The combination of severe post-infectious kyphosis and diaphragm relaxation is extremely rare in patient early than 1 year old. Its no publications concerning their simultaneous surgical treatment. CASE DESCRIPTION: 7-Month-old girl had simultaneous spinal reconstruction with anterior and posterior instrumentation and plastic of diaphragm because of sequelae of non-granulenatous spondylitis complicated by severe kyphosis (54°) and diaphragm relaxation. Between 1.5 and 3 months of live she had several infections incl. pneumonia, enterocolitis, ENT infection. Anterior fusion was done by titanium mesh with auto-rib, posterior - by compressive rods based on low-profile hooks. The deformity was reduced till 20°. 2.5 years after initial surgery and 1 year after removal of posterior instrumentation the adequate level of diaphragm and minimal (4°) loss of kyphosis correction were identified. CONCLUSIONS: The combination of spondylitis and diaphragm relaxation in early aged patient could be explained but it could not be confirmed as a sequelae of late-onset neonatal sepsis with a multi-focal lesions. The simultaneous surgery provided on the combined approaches (trans-thoracic and posterior) looks as optimal options in such combination of pathologies. In remains controversial how will the spine develop after so early reconstructive surgery, including in situ stable anterior fusion carried out by titanium mesh with auto-rib.

RESUMEN

We studied the dose-dependent effect of antibodies to glutamate on the stress response in C57Bl/6 mice. The antibodies were administered immediately after stress exposure. Intranasal administration of antibodies to glutamate in doses of 150 and 250 µg/kg immediately after stress exposure was shown to reduce the stress response under conditions of combined restraint stress. This effect was most pronounced after treatment with antibodies in a dose of 250 µg/kg: we revealed a decrease in the number and severity of erosive and ulcerative lesions in the gastric mucosa, i.e. anti-glutamate antibodies have a protective effect.

RESUMEN

Combined stress exposure of rats can lead to the formation of autoantibodies to neurotransmitters. Repeated stress is associated with the production of autoantibodies to serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, glutamate, and GABA. High emotional and behavioral reaction to stress is associated with intensive production of autoantibodies to serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, and glutamate.

RESUMEN

The production and role of autoantibodies against neurotransmitters glutamate, gamma-aminobutyric acid, and norepinephrine were studied in rats with experimental neuropathic pain syndrome induced by sciatic nerve transection. Nerve transection in rats was followed by behavioral reaction of autotomy (self-mutilation of the operated limb), which often accompanies neuropathic pain syndrome. The development of neuropathic pain syndrome was accompanied by increased production of autoantibodies against glutamate, gamma-aminobutyric acid, and norepinephrine. A negative correlation was found between the amount of autoantibodies against neurotransmitters and severity of neuropathic pain syndrome. Our results suggest that antibodies against glutamate and norepinephrine exhibit protective activity.

RESUMEN

Experiments on C57Bl/6 mice showed that chronic epileptization of the brain (pharmacological pentylenetetrazole kindling) is accompanied by induction of autoantibodies against glutamate and GABA. Immunohistochemical similarity of antibodies against glutamate and GABA was demonstrated. Study on the model of pentylenetetrazole-induced acute generalized epileptiform activity showed high immunobiological specificity of intraperitoneally injected antibodies against GABA and glutamate: antiepileptic effect of antiglutamate antibodies and proepileptic effect of antibodies against GABA.

RESUMEN

The dynamics of dopamine and norepinephrine contents in the dorsal hippocampus of rats immunized with a dopamine-BSA conjugate was studied during immobilization stress by mean of the microdialysis technique. Immunization with dopamine conjugate was accompanied by intensive production of antibodies against dopamine in rat blood and a tendency toward an increase in dopamine content in the dorsal hippocampus even in the basal state (before stress exposure). Under stress conditions, dopamine content in the dorsal hippocampus of immunized rats significantly increased. In control rats, stress was accompanied by a significant increase in norepinephrine content in the dorsal hippocampus. The observed peculiarities in dopamine and norepinephrine contents in the dorsal hippocampus of rats immunized with a dopamine conjugate were typical of active animals more resistant to emotional stress.

RESUMEN

In this review the authors analyze neuroimmune aspects of the pathogenesis of such neuropsychic diseases as drug addiction, alcoholism, epilepsy, and pathologic pain. The role of pro-inflammatory cytokines in the development of pathological pain and epilepsy is discussed. The authors analyze their own data on the role of antibodies to neuromediators, such as catecholamines, serotonin, and glutamate, in the development of various forms of neuropathology, and outline the prospects of immunotherapy of the mentioned forms of neuroimmunopathology, including immunotherapy with conjugate on homological protein carrier.

RESUMEN

Procedures for anterior spine fusion and posterior instrumental spinal fixation have been developed for the surgical treatment of childhood tuberculous spondylitis complicated by severe kyphotic deformity. The optimum method of the instrumental fixation is the use of multisupport constructions with the heterodirectional action of corrective efforts (in 15 children). Anterior osteoplastic stabilization of the vertebral column, by applying brace cortical grafts with saddle-shaped hollows on the tips of its ventral projection, was applied in 6 children. A significant and steady-state correction of kyphosis was achieved in all the cases; there were no complications of anterior spine fusion and posterior instrumental fixation.

RESUMEN

We studied the possibility of induction of anti-GABA autoantibodies during chronic epileptization of the brain and the effect of systemic intraperitoneal administration of anti-GABA antibodies to C57Bl/6 mice on acute generalized and chronic epileptiform activity. It was found for the first time that chronic epileptization is accompanied by induction of anti-GABA autoantibody synthesis. Antibodies against GABA produced a proepileptic effect.

RESUMEN

We studied the effect of single intraperitoneal treatment with antibodies to glutamate on pentylenetetrazole-induced acute generalized epileptiform activity in C57Bl/6 mice. The antiepileptic effect was observed 1.5 and 24 h after administration of antibodies to glutamate in doses of 10, 25, and 50 mg/kg. This treatment increased the thresholds of clonic seizures and tonic phase of seizures with lethal outcome.

RESUMEN

We studied the effect of immunization with a serotonin-bovine serum albumin conjugate on parameters of stress reaction to immobilization stress in rats. Active immunization was accompanied by changes in parameters reflecting animal resistance to emotional stress. The observed changes can be interpreted as a decrease in individual resistance to emotional stress. Active immunization of rats with a serotonin-bovine serum albumin conjugate was accompanied by production of autoantibodies against serotonin and dopamine. The role of autoantibodies against dopamine in modulation of the effect of immunization with serotonin-bovine serum albumin conjugate on the stress reaction in rats is discussed.

RESUMEN

The neuroimmune aspects of epilepsy pathology are analyzed in the survey. The pathogenetic role of proinflammatory cytokines and of antibodies to neuroagents as well as of antibodies to the NMDA-receptor and glutamate was defined within the development of epilepsy. It is for the first time that the data of the authors' independent research are presented, which testify to the anti-epilepsy activity of antibodies to the glutamate.

RESUMEN

A new mode has been proposed to correct deformities in tuberculous spondylitis complicated by more than 50 degrees kyphotic deformity. The mode involves extended repair of the vertebral column, supplemented by the use of Luque-modified posterior multisupport hooked contractors. The mode ensures correction deformity to 47 degrees. The procedures of a surgical intervention are described.

RESUMEN

We studied the effect of active immunization with glutamate-bovine serum albumin conjugate on acute generalized epileptiform activity evoked by single administration of corazol. Antibodies to glutamate produced an antiepileptic effect and elevated the threshold for clonic seizures and tonic phase of lethal seizures. In BALB/c mice this effect was more pronounced than in C57BL/6 mice.

RESUMEN

The possibility of long-term changes in the innate characteristics of the behavior of mice of different genotypes (C57Bl/6 and BALB/c) after active immunization with dopamine-BSA conjugates was studied. These experiments revealed significant differences in the effects of anti-dopamine antibody on behavioral responses in an open field and neurotransmitter contents of brain structures in mice of different lines. Immunization with the dopamine-protein conjugate led to increases in the functional activity of the corresponding brain receptors, to different extents in mice of different lines.

RESUMEN

The scientific review is devoted to an analysis of neuro-immune aspects of the pathological pain and to the role of disregulation between the central nervous system (CNS) and the immune system in triggering the mechanisms of such pain. The importance of anti-inflammatory cytokines (interleukins, and tumor necrosis factor) as well as of autoantibodies to neuro-mediators in the pathogenesis of different forms of hyperalgetic conditions is evaluated. New data are discussed, which are related with the possibility of modulating the antibodies to neuro-transmitters (serotonin and catecholamines) of experimental neuropathic pain syndromes.
