RESUMEN

The objective of the present study was to improve the quality and efficacy of the surgical treatment of chronic otitis media including the plastic correction of total and subtotal tympanic defects by fixing a many-layer chondro-perichondrial autograft with the use of a latex tissue glue. Twenty seven patients presenting with total and subtotal defects of the tympanic membrane underwent surgical intervention in the lateral position. The multilayer transplants composed of a thinned cartilage, fascia, and transposed circular cutaneous graft on the feeding pedicle were fixed using the latex tissue glue. The morphological and functional results of the treatment were estimated one year after surgery. It was shown that the use of the latex tissue glue for the fixation of many-layer autografts during myringoplasty made it possible to decrease the duration of the hospital stay of the patients, reduce to a minimum manifestations of negative subjective feelings, and ensure the reliable clinico-morphological and functional outcome of the treatment.

RESUMEN

The objective of the present study was to analyse the results of he treatment of Eustachian tube dysfunction by means of prolonged transtubal drainage of the tube lumen using a polyethylene catheter introduced immediately after the completion of the rhinosurgical intervention for the targeted delivery of pharmaceutical products. Eighty four patients with Eustachian tube dysfunction and impairment of hearing had a thin catheter introduced in the tube lumen for 7-14 days after various rhinosurgical interventions. We estimated the efficacy of the local treatment following rhinosurgery with the subsequent prolonged administration of pharmaceutical products through the intratubal drainage system. It is concluded that the introduction of a thin polyethylene drainage in the Eustachian tube lumen immediately after the rhinosurgical intervention combined with subsequent prolonged local pharmacotherapy make it possible to achieve the long-term recovery of the tube function in 80% of the patients.

RESUMEN

This study had the objective to enhance the efficacy of the surgical treatment of the patients presenting with chronic suppurative otitis media by means of reduction of the time needed to achieve persistent remission of the disease in the framework of a complex of therapeutic and rehabilitative measures making possible the surgical intervention on the middle ear regardless of the activity of the inflammatory process and its severity. Sixty five patients with chronic suppurative otitis media were examined and treated to estimate the clinical efficiency of the proposed complex of therapeutic and rehabilitative measures. It is maintained that this complex allows to achieve the positive results of reconstructive and restorative surgery without waiting for the development of long-term remission.
