RESUMEN
Fundamento: la red de información en salud sirve de apoyo a la enseñanza, la investigación y el aprendizaje en general, así como al diseño de servicios a la medida de las necesidades y expectativas de sus usuarios.Objetivo: describir el desarrollo alcanzado por la Red de Información en Salud en la provincia de Las Tunas, de 1984 a 2017.Métodos: se realizó un estudio descriptivo, apoyado en el método histórico-lógico, el análisis documental y la entrevista. Se describen los principales servicios que se prestaban desde la primera década, el surgimiento de nuevas unidades, los proyectos de automatización y acceso a Internet.Resultados: actualmente la red de información en salud está conformada por un Centro Provincial de Información de Ciencias Médicas y 23 bibliotecas distribuidas por los municipios; los servicios editoriales se fortalecieron marcadamente a partir del año 2014, relacionado con el paso a la gestión mediante Open Journal Systems de la Revista Electrónica Dr. Zoilo E. Marinello Vidaurreta y su posterior hospedaje en los servidores nacionales de Infomed y, con ello, su lanzamiento internacional. La actividad científica de la red se ha mantenido estable.Conclusiones: la Red de Información en Salud en la provincia de Las Tunas se desarrolló a partir del año 1984, caracterizada actualmente por la integración de tecnologías, servicios de información y recursos para el aprendizaje y la investigación(AU)
Background: the health information network serves as a support for teaching, research and learning in general, as well as for the design of services taking into account the needs and expectations of its users.Objective: to describe the development reached by the health information network in the province of Las Tunas from 1984 to 2017.Methods: a descriptive study was carried out, supported by the historical-logical method, the documentary analysis and the interview. It describes the main services provided since the first decade, the emergence of new units, the automation projects and the Internet.Results: nowadays, the health information network is made up of a Provincial Information Center of Medical Sciences and 23 libraries distributed in all the municipalities. The editorial services were markedly strengthened since 2014, related to the transfer to the Open Journal Systems management of the Dr. Zoilo E Marinello Vidaurreta Electronic Journal that later became part of the national servers of Infomed, giving way for its international launching. The scientific activity of the network has remained stable.Conclusions: the health information network in the province of Las Tunas progressed since 1984, and is characterized in the present by the integration of technologies, information services and resources for learning and research(AU)
