RESUMEN

Activation composition of lymphocyte population and killer cell phenotype are shifted in patients with catarrhal gingivitis during exacerbation and remission. Our findings indicate high activation of T-cellular immunity and NK cells in patients with exacerbation of catarrhal gingivitis, while remission is characterized by decreased level of activated T cells expressing HLA DR+ molecule on their surface and increased level of killer suppressors expressing IL-2 receptors.

RESUMEN

Immunological parameters of the periodontal peripheral blood were studied in patients aged 18-19 years with catarrhal gingivitis during the remission and exacerbation stages and in subjects with normal periodontium. The immune status was studied by flow laser cytometry using monoclonal antibodies. Opposite changes in the lymphocyte and natural killer subpopulations were detected in periodontal blood of patients with catarrhal gingivitis at the stages of remission and exacerbation.

RESUMEN

In order to evaluate the relationship between cellular and humoral immunity, washings from the gingival sulcus were analyzed in 15 patients with catarrhal gingivitis and 15 subjects with intact periodontium aged 19-22 years. The results indicate a close relationship between local immunity and humoral and cellular defense factors. It seems that decreased IgA level, complement component, and increased activities of C-reactive protein and antistreptolysin-O are the key factors in the development of chronic gingivitis. Permanent bacterial aggression leads to dysfunction of phagocytic and epithelial cells.

RESUMEN

Experiments on 10 green monkeys were carried out to elucidate the effect of implantation of calcium phosphate materials on the course of healing of the periodontium after surgery. Periodontal defects were formed in the 654/456 area and filled with the implant on the right. The results were assessed two months later microscopically. The periodontium healed in both cases, but after implantation new bone formed at the site of the graft, cementogenesis and formation of new connective tissue adhesion were observed. The control sites healed with formation of cicatricial tissue.
