RESUMEN

Olive-like TiO2 (titanium dioxide), nanospheres compounds were synthesized. Polysaccharide (1-3 linked ß-D galactapyranose and 1.4-linked 3.6 anyhdro-α-L-galactopyranose and titanium isopropoxide (IV) was used as a precursor in its formation. The powder sample was evaluated by scanning tunneling microscope, X-ray diffraction pattern, power spectral density, fast Fourier transform, differential thermal analysis, continuous wavelet transform, and isotropy texture analysis. The results demonstrate that these nanospheres can successfully be synthesized in a solution using a polysaccharide network by means of the sol-gel method. The synthesized olive-like TiO2 nanospheres have diameters ranging from 50 nm to 500 nm. The synthesis parameters, such as temperature, time, and concentration of the polysaccharide, were controlled in solution.

RESUMEN

In this work, titanium dioxide scaffolds were synthesized. Titanium isopropoxide (IV) was used as a precursor in its formation, using a polymeric network of galactopyranose as a template. The powder sample obtained was evaluated by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis, and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA-DTA). According to the results, it was found that these scaffolds can be successfully synthesized in solution using the sol-gel method. The synthesized scaffolds have diameters from 50 nm with porosity of approximately 0.3-10 nm. Important parameters, such as pH and the concentration of the metallic precursors, were optimized in this solution. The values of maximum average roughness R(max) and roughness value (Ra) were 0.50 and 1.45, respectively. XRD diffraction analysis shows the formation of crystalline phases in the TiO2 scaffold at 700 °C. The use of biological polymers represents an alternative for the synthesis of new materials at low cost, manipulating the conditions in the production processes and making the proposed system more efficient.

RESUMEN

This study reports the behavior of the Ni20Cr alloy in molten nitrate salts. Its behavior was evaluated in the eutectic mixture called Solar Salt (binary salt) and in a ternary mixture (90% Solar Salt and 10% lanthanum nitrate). The addition of lanthanum nitrate was performed to determine if the presence of the La3+ cation could act as a corrosion inhibitor. Through mass loss and potentiodynamic polarization studies, the effects of both electrolytes on the corrosion resistance of the alloy at 300, 400, and 500 °C and at exposure times of 250, 500, 750, and 1000 h were determined. The results showed an increase in the corrosivity of the ternary salt, due to a decrease in its melting point and an increase in the concentration of nitrate ions. However, it was observed that the La3+ cations formed a protective layer (La2O3) on the alloy surface. In both corrosive media, the Ni20Cr alloy showed excellent corrosion resistance, due to its ability to form protective layers of Cr2O3, NiO, and NiCr2O4, in addition to the presence of a layer of La2O3 in the case of the ternary salt.
