RESUMEN

Bleeding phenotype in factor XI (FXI)-deficient patients is variable, and not related to baseline FXI:Act. Aims of our study were to describe the characteristics and the management of surgery and deliveries in FXI-deficient patients, and to investigate the relationship between the haemorrhagic phenotype and the baseline FXI:Act. Ninety-five patients were diagnosed and followed in our centre for a median follow-up of 0.9 years (0.1-36.2); median FXI:Act of all patients: 38% (0.5-69%). Fifty-six patients (59%) experienced bleeding episodes not surgery-related. Prior to diagnosis, 64 patients underwent 132 surgeries, and after diagnosis, 23 patients underwent 36 surgeries. Globally 26 of 168 surgeries were prophylactically treated, whereas 142 of 168 were not. As regard as surgeries performed without prophylaxis, 30 bleeding events (21%) occurred in 21 patients. At diagnosis, the median FXI:Act of bleeding and non-bleeding patients was 28% and 37%, respectively, without statistically significant difference between the two groups (P = 0.26). As regard as surgeries performed under prophylactic treatment just 1 bleeding event occurred. Prior to diagnosis, 31 spontaneous deliveries (SD) and eight caesarian sections (CS) were performed without prophylaxis: 4 postpartum haemorrhages (10.5%) occurred (patients FXI:Act: 2%, 6%, 27%, 52.3% respectively). After diagnosis, four SD and five CS were performed with prophylaxis: no postpartum haemorrhages occurred. We confirm the wide bleeding phenotype variability in FXI-deficient patients, not related to the baseline FXI:Act levels. We highlight the importance of performing a correct diagnosis and follow-up, because a good management of prophylactic treatment, dramatically reduces the bleeding rate in case of surgery or deliveries.

RESUMEN

In this paper we propose a functional of the many-body cumulant of the second-order reduced density matrix within the spin-free formalism of quantum chemistry which quantifies the idea of electron correlation and allows one to detect spin entanglement. Its properties are rigorously stated and discussed for spin-adapted pure states. Numerical determinations are performed for both equilibrium conformations and dissociation processes in molecular systems.

RESUMEN

A homogeneous fucogalactoxyloglucan, isolated from the leaves of Hymenaea courbaril, was analysed by methylation-GC-MS. These procedures involved derived partially O-methylated alditol acetates and acetylated aldononitriles, which demonstrated the presence of both 2-O- and 4-O-substituted Xylp units in the side-chains. The presence of the unusual, latter structure was confirmed by 2D NMR spectroscopy with a correlated HMQC C-4/H-4 signal at delta 77.8/3.73. A similar 4-O-substituted xylosyl structure was present in a decasaccharide Glc4Xyl3Gal2Fuc obtained via endo-glucanase treatment of the polysaccharide, which gave rise to a molecular ion with m/z 1555 (ESI-MS, Na+ form).

RESUMEN

This paper describes a matrix formulation for the correlated hole theory within the framework of the domain-averaged model in many electron systems (atoms, molecules, condensed matter, etc.). General relationships between this quantity and one-particle reduced density matrices for any independent particle or correlated state functions are presented. This formulation turns out to be suitable for computational purposes due to the straightforward introduction of cumulants of two-particle reduced density matrices within the quantum field structure. Numerical calculations in selected simple molecular systems have been performed in order to determine preliminary correlated values for such a quantity.

RESUMEN

This work carries out a study of atomic valences within molecular systems based on Mulliken and topological population analyses at correlated level. The use of the unpaired electron densities leads to suitable relationships between valences, free valence indices, and bond indices, which turn out to be quite useful for computational purposes. The results arising from both methods at correlated and uncorrelated levels are compared in a large series of chemical compounds. Several interesting conclusions are drawn out and analyzed in detail.
