RESUMEN
Black turtle (Chelonia mydas agassizii) carcasses, recovered as a result of incidental capture in Magdalena Bay, Mexico, revealed invasion by spirorchiid trematode eggs in liver, kidney, intestines, muscle, heart, pancreas, and duodenum. Seventy-five adult Learedius learedi Price, 1934, were recovered from the heart of 1 turtle. Most of the organs showed a mild or absent inflammatory response in histological sections, with the exception of a pancreatic-duodenal section that revealed severe lymphocyte and phagocyte infiltration associated with an infestation of more than 200 eggs. A linear formation of 35 eggs from the pancreas toward the intestinal lumen is described as resembling migration. This is among the first reports of a parasitic infection of L. learedi Price 1934, in C. m. agassizii in Mexico.

The bovine pancreatic inhibitor of trypsin (trasylol, Bayer) (T) and the soy bean trypsin inhibitor (SBI) were coupled with peroxidase (P). With each one of these coupling products (T and P and SBI and P) the cell distribution of proteolytic enzymes (PE) of ascitic cells of L5178Y murine lymphoma, was localized. The reactions were developed by means of Karnowsky's reaction with diaminobenzidine and H2O2. The preparations were observed under light and electronic microscopy. It was found that L5178Y cells contain intracellular PE in granules measuring 0.1 to 0.8 min diameter, and superficial PE that form a continuous layer of 80 to 120 nm over the cell surface. Superficial PE were not identified in 20 per cent of L5178Y cells, while in every case intracellular granules were found. Both the macrophages and the polimorphonuclear cells present in the ascitic fluid contained intracellular PE granules measuring 0.05 to 0.4 micron in diameter, and did not contain superficial PE.

BALB/C mice were treated with epsilon aminocaproic acid (EACA), 0.1 to 3.2 mg/g body weight, subcutaneously every 24 hours for six days, starting on the second day after intraperitoneal transplantation of L5178Y lymphoma. Complete involution was observed in 20 to 90 per cent of the ascitic tumor and in 50 per cent of the solid tumor 72 hours after EACA was discontinued, tumoral involution and dosage were directly proportional. One hundred per cent of the non treated controls died 10 +/- 0.6 days after intraperitoneal lymphoma transplantation. During tumor involution malignant cells underwent autolysis and were attacked or phagocytized by activated macrophages. Since EACA is a proteolytic enzyme inhibitor, inhibition during treatment and activation of these enzymes after EACA was discontinued could have been the cause of autolysis of the L5178Y lymphoma cells.

Lymphoma L5178Y cells were treated with neuraminidase of Vibrio cholerae, potassium iodine, dithiotreitol (DTT), mercaptoethanol, glutaraldehyde, iodoacetamide, merthiolate, sodium periodate, urea, papaine, trypsine and EDTA, to increase immunoreaction in tumor cells. Mice were immunized with modified tumor cells every week for one month. Thereafter non modified tumor cells were transplanted to previously immunized mice. Only the immunization with neuraminidase-treated cells rejected the tumor. Although the immunization with cells treated with potassium iodine, DTT and mercaptoethanol did not reject tumor, prolonged significantly span of life. The other reactives had neither effect on tumor rejection nor on span of life.

Trophozoites were obtained from fecal mucous in patients bearing colonic amebiasis. The tripsin inhibitor of soya bean was coupled to peroxidase according to Nakane and Kawokoi method. Amebae were incubated with couple and reactions were developed following Karnowsky's technic. There was a specific labeling of proteolitic enzymes on plasma membrane, the wall of digestive vacuoles and intracytoplasmic vacuoles of the trophozoites. Such a distribution of proteolitic enzymes agreed with digestive and invasion functions of E. histolytica.

Neoplastic cell suspensions prepared from fourteen spontaneous and three transplanted vereal sarcomas of the dog were studied by microcytotoxicity and immunofluorescence tests. Serum and cell-surface antibodies were found in all cases. These antibodies were not capable of activating canine complement. Most likely these antibodies are not cytotoxic in vivo, but rather act by enhancing tumor growth.

The presence of virus particles and their possible mechanism of excretion was studied in cells of murine lymphoma L 5178Y grown intraperitoneally. Malignant cells obtained from 10 mice bearing this lymphoma were studied with the electron microscope. In 96% of the cells 1 to 30 viroid particles (VP) type C (VP-C) clumped or isolated, averaging six per cell were observed. Isolated VP-C were commonly seen within endoplasmic reticulum or budding off from cell surface. Such a finding was regarded as the mechanism of excretion. However, with the present findings it is not possible to draw any conclusions upon the oncogenic nature of the virus particles described herein.
